What can I say? I've seen these colorful shiny units proudly displayed on many a friend's counter over the years. When I asked them how they liked it, they always said you have to get one, they are the best. It will change the way you cook. In my infinite wisdom, I thought I was letting my wife build character by using her hand held electric mixer for kitchen chores. Fast forward to three days before Thanksgiving 2016 and my wife is getting ready to prepare for making mashed potatoes for 30 hungry friends and family. Lo and behold, the cute little hand mixer has an unfortunate "accident", with no witnesses, that remains shrouded in mystery even to this very day. So I decide I'll be the savior of Thanksgiving mashed potatoes, take one for the team, and go get her a shiny, glossy, sleek red Kitchen Aid stand mixer. Well, it turned out to be a very wise purchase, on many levels. This powerful workhorse kitchen tool turned what used to be a hour and a half labor of love into fifteen minutes of sweet heavenly bliss. She added ingredients, turned it on, and walked away! When she came back, whala! Creamy, delicious garlic mashed potatoes with no lumps to be found. A Thanksgiving first! Which consequently left ample time for her to shower me with appreciation. As an added bonus, my daughters have already started making recipes out of the handy cookbook that came with it. Why oh why didn't I buy one of these timeless, legitimate kitchen tools earlier in our marriage? Makes me wish I had a partner like Marley in Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol" haunt me into buying one of these years ago, to tell me of the benefits of having a Kitchen Aid mixer on my counter, and how I could positively change the future for good. Maybe I can be your Marley. Buy one of these mixers, it will bring peace to your home, gladness to your heart and give you back time. And time is money. So essentially you'll make money every time it's used.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought a month ago am glad I did. Thank goodness I purchased an extra bowl though. The one that came with stripped where screw bowl into mixer, after first use. 2nd works like a champ.

I bought this mixer in October. During the Christmas holiday it made baking so much easier. I've never had a stand mixer, and can't believe I didn't get one earlier. It's a great machine. I mixed a double batch of cookie dough, which I could not have done easily before. It made a great pie crust. A perfect machine for a number of baking options.
