I waited years for my cheapo mixer to wear out, and rushed to buy this 5 qt. Artisan mixer. I wish I had tried one before buying. The splash guard is worthless ill-fitting junk. Also frustrating is the minimal clearance between the bowl and mixer. That combined with the small diameter of the bowl rim make access to bowl contents impossible without raising the head and removing the bowl. I was so excited to finally get the state of the art Kitchenaid, but I am keenly disappointed; the cheapo with its shortcoming was more satisfactory. Oh, well.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a wonderful mixer. It is a little heavy if you have to move it from place to place. It has a strong motor and and it takes less time to mix than a previous mixer that I had from a different company.

I am so lucky. I am 14 years old and have wanted one of these for so long. My mom always said that it was something you get for a wedding gift because it is pricey. Christmas was a huge surprise for me. I finally got one and absolutely just love it. I make so may things but my specialty is cupcakes from scratch. I can't say enough, just so pleased.
