After 40 years with my Sunbeam, I have a red KitchenAid

Had my old one not died on me, I would not have bought a new one! I like this but there are things I'm not accustomed to. There is no room to add ingredients while it's mixing without losing a spatula/measuring cup or lose a finger breaking an egg into it. But I can stop it and raise it - I don't care to use the "chute" on the splatter shield, and I don't care for the splatter shield. I was having a lot of trouble when i.e. creaming butter & sugar together - the beater would not keep it cleaned off the side of the bowl. But I was given the beater with the little rubber edge on it for Christmas and it works much much better now. I was especially happy with the dough hook - my Sunbeam dough hooks made a mess - and this one works quite well with my cinnamon roll dough and bread dough. For me it would be more convenient to have the speeds and the up and down locking mechanism on the same side. I have a narrow counter top and it has to sit bowl side to the right so I'm always reaching around it to turn the beaters on and off. So there you have it!!! It's a good appliance but it will take some getting used to.
Pros: Looks, Performance, creams sugar and butter wonderfully, great with bread/roll dough, can't add ingredients while in use
Cons: without the extra beater it's a bear keeping the, sides scraped down

I also love that I can shred cooked chicken, so much easier then the traditional two fork method. We are excited to try all sorts of new recipes with this mixer making is to easy!!

I regret giving away my very first one (upgraded to a bigger bowl) That was a workhorse and reflected the quality that you expect of a KitchenAid product

I always wanted a Kitchen-Aid stand mixer, but bought the hand mixer instead years ago which by the way, it works well too, BUT my kids bought me a stand mixer for my birthday this year and I wish I would have spent the money and bought one years ago. So nice to throw all the ingredients in, turn it on and let it do it's thing! No more batter on the walls with the shield and so easy to use.
