This is the 2nd Kitchen Aid mixer I have either received as a gift or purchased. My first one was over 20+ years ago when my husband and children purchased the 4.5 quart Kitchen Aid for Christmas for me. It was used not only by my family but my best friend for the first couple of years during Christmas baking until her family purchased one for her for Christmas. I have recommended Kitchen Aid mixers to many of my family and friends with several of them also purchasing a mixer along with other Kitchen Aid products. I purchased a 5 quart Artisan Series Tilt-head stand mixer in November because I want a bigger bowl when mixing cookie dough especially. I gave my old mixer to my daughter and is still going strong today. A very well made product and withstands many years of usage. I even dropped it on the floor once and it still is going strong. I have many grandchildren (14 + ) who expect cookies in the cookie jar at all times.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed a mixer ASAP as my previous one no longer wanted to participate in my holiday shenanigans. So off to the store I went, leaving a partially mixed batch of cookies. As I browsed the selections, the bright red Kitchenaid caught my eye. It was an immediate connection, as I knew this mixer would never leave me stranded with a half mixed batch of cookies. It was more than I wanted to spend, but I know that it will be the last mixer I ever have to buy!

This is my second KitchenAid mixer. The first one lasted 30-35 years. It was the basic almond color. The new one is a beautiful shade of blue. I expect it to last 30-35 years!

I like the accessories that come with the mixer. It is great for mixing light foods, but it the motor struggles when mixing heavier doughs such as cookie dough or bread dough. I like the older versions of this must better, although they are no longer available. On the plus side if I have any problems they replace the product. My mom has had her mixer for nineteen years and has had no problems. The older versions seen to be more sturdy as the motor doesn't struggle with mixing thick doughs.
