My mother bought hers when I was 9, and still has it and still uses it. I have been wanting on e for years, and got one for my birthday. It works exactly the way I remember, handles my baking stints with ease, and looks so good that I made a special place on my counter for it. I know this will be in my house, still working, when my now-5 year old is getting ready to buy his own as an adult.
"Good" ratings on performance and innovation are because the Artisan has slightly less power than the pro series, so it strains a little with super-thick frostings and such, and the design has essentially stayed the same for decades. But I like that it is familiar and that I didn't have to learn a whole new coupling system or whatever, so innovative? Meh. Awesome? Yeah.
Pros: easy to use, Performance, Convenient Features, Design

I love my new Kitchenaid Mixer. It whips up cakes within seconds. I had always wanted on of these, and now that I have it, I wouldn't change it for anything. It's quick and it's built to last for years to come. It is definatly a high quality product and worth every cent that they charge.
