Quality of Kitchenaid just not there anymore.

The KitchenAid Artisan KSM150PSER is my third KitchenAid mixer. I also own an Ultra Power and a Pro 600. My Ultra is over 20 yrs old; Pro 600 is about 4 yrs old. With each new mixer, I see Kitchenaid cutting corners. The little things make a difference. The elimination of the beater shaft spring means attachments wiggle when mixing doughs like drop cookies. The stainless steel bowls are made of thinner gauge metal. The electrical cord isn’t as heavy-duty. The 600 and Artisan will never hold up like my Ultra.
I owned the original three-piece pasta attachment. The roller attachment wore out so I recently replaced it with a new one. The new pasta roller is a piece of junk. The original pasta roller was very well made with metal parts that rolled dough beautifully. The new model is made with a some cheap plastic parts so dough slips and slides. I’ve made pasta with my KitchenAid for 20 years; now the new roller makes it impossible to roll out dough.
My original flex edge blade paddle lasted so many years I lost count. The new one has been replaced twice already as the flexible scraper edge cracked.
KitchenAid is an expensive mixer. These days consumers just aren’t getting the quality the brand’s reputation was built on.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this for Christmas to replace a 25 year old KA stand mixer. First thing I noticed was that this one does not have a spring-loaded post where the paddle attaches. Then, when I turned it on the lowest speed for the first time, it was quite loud, sounded like the motor was struggling to go. The sound improved when I turned the power up but it is still much louder than the old one. I have only used the mixer 3 times so far as opposed to the 25 years I used the old one, but these 3 things make me feel like the new mixer is not as well made as the old one. Maybe this will change over time as I get used to the new one. We will see. One final note - the old mixer now resides in the kitchen of my son's college dorm where it is getting plenty of use by the guys. Gotta love that!

Not as good as my previous KitchenAid mixer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had to replace the KitchenAid mixer I had purchased about 30 years ago as the motor was no longer working properly. So, my review is comparing my old one with this new one. This new one just doesn't seem as sturdy/heavy duty. I often make bread and whenever I'm making it with the new mixer, there are rattling noises and the mixer actually moves along the counter. I'm afraid it may fall off the counter! It just doesn't seem to handle the heavier dough very well and the quality doesn't seem to be as good as my old one.
It works fine with a lighter batter, whipping egg whites, etc., (although it does still make more noises than my old one). I wonder if the next model up would've met my needs.
Love the red color!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought my first mixer 20 years ago. There wasn't anything wrong with it. I won some money and decided I wanted a new red kitchen aid mixer. So I called my niece and asked her if she wanted my old one and she said yes. So now you have another happy owner!
