This was a Christmas gift to my new wife and me, and I love it! (She thinks it's silly because we can do it by hand fairly easily, but I say TECHNOLOGY!) You really have to be on top of it though, as it is incredibly efficient and you may over-mix some things.
I recommend the base model without reservation; however, I haven't used any attachments yet. Also, the splash guard is sort of a joke because it doesn't actually fix to the bowl. It's supposed to gently wedge into place, but the wedges aren't substantial enough to hold it there and you have to keep a hand on it. Maybe the glass bowl would be different, I don't have it.
It's seriously a great buy if you can put it to use. Enjoy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just a couple of weeks of having my mixer I feel like I can fix anything! I’ve mixed up my cake batter, made my icing and later made bread without my Kitchenaid mixer even slowing down. I’m so happy I got it.

My mom has been "eyeing" the mixer for a bit now and finally I just went ahead and bought it. She mostly uses it for kneading dough. But the fact she is not dependent on anyone any more for the simple act of knead dough for roti is amazing. It really made her love cooking and feeding her family again.
