My review

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My first mixer (I don't remember the brand) I bought when first married at a yard sale. After a year or two of always getting shocked when I used it, I bought a hand mixer. I used a hand mixer until I got a Bosch mixer, about 10 years ago. The Bosch is a great mixer, but the mixer and mixer bowl design drove me crazy. I still use it to make bread dough and that's it. I went back to the hand mixer for most jobs... Until this past Christmas, about 40 years since that first shocking mixer, when I finally got my KitchenAid after drooling over them for several years. I love it. It isn't too big on my counter and I am sooo glad not to have to use a hand mixer when making whipped cream anymore. Thanks KitchenAid!

My husband surprised me early with a mixer as an early Christmas present! I've always had a thing for not wanting kitchen appliances or tools as presents but this mixer was an exception. Love it!

Mixed feelings
on December 26, 2016

I received this stand mixer as a Christmas present. Excited to start baking, I cleaned all attachments and the bowl with a sponge, hot water and detergent - but as soon as my first dough was coming together, I noticed streaks of grey in my cookie batter! Luckily other users seem to have had the same problem - I found a suggestion from the Kitchenaid support, I think, to rinse the bowl with lemon juice after washing to remove any residue from the polishing cream. Coincidentially, my cookie dough had contained freshly grated lemon peel, so I had basically "rinsed" the bowl with the batter :-(
Everything I had made since then looked good, though, and also the final products turned out great. I plan on getting a few attachments in the future and cannot wait to try them out.
Although I like the "look" of this iconic appliance, the "feel" does not keep up with it. The levers (for the speed and for locking down the tilt-head) are not moving smoothly, it feels rather like operating a large machine, like having a tractor (a 1950s Ford) in the kitchen. I hope this is a good sign for the sturdiness and longevity of the appliance...
