[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wish I would have bought this a long time ago. I am excited to buy new attachments so I can try them.
I bought this mixer a month ago, and it definitely makes cookie and bread batter much lighter and more consistent. It's great for whipping egg whites too. The plastic cover for adding ingredients doesn't fit very well over the bowl and seems pretty useless.
I love my new mixer! The three mixer heads each has a purpose to make baking so much easier. I wanted the tilted head because it makes removing the mixer head easier. Clean up is easy too. The stainless steel mixing bowl can be popped into the dishwasher for washing. Using a damp cloth to wipe the body of the mixer for easy cleanup is fantastic. I haven't purchased any of the attachments yet, but I intend to soon
My old mixer died and I had to buy a new one. Got a good deal on the KitchenAid which came highly recommended by my neighbor who makes the best sopaipilla cheesecake ever and gives the credit to her KitchenAid. I love the color--goes well with my kitchen colors and glass tile backsplash. Two things that keep me from giving it 5 stars. First is that with the beater that comes with it and the stainless steel bowl which has a little "dip" in the bottom, dry ingredients get caught in there and don't get wet. Usually have to get a spatula and mix in what falls in the groove. Second, the plastic shield is more of a hindrance than an advantage. Could not figure out how to attach it. Instructions said it should fit inside the bowl. Really hard to do because they do not match in roundness. It kept popping off and falling in the bowl and finally cracked when hit by the beater. I worried all night that the cake I made for a funeral had a piece of plastic in it. If I just sit it on top of the bowl, ingredients and flour dust fly out between the bowl and the gap left when just sitting it on top. Anyway, I now have a broken shield. I hope warranty will cover that. Instructions on how to use it need to be clearer. I am still now sure how to attach it to the bowl. Also, the opening in the shield to add ingredients sits on the far side which is a little inconvenient as the speed control is on the other side of the mixing head. It would be better if the add-in opening was at the end of the shield. The mixer itself is quiet, powerful, efficient. Haven't tried the dough hook yet but I will.
I would recommend this to a friend!
