Not really thrilled with my machine. It's good for bread dough, but when making cookies or icing the beater blade just doesn't get close enough to the sides of the bowl. So I have to keep stoping and scraping. The last few cookies to come out of the bowl bake up flat. Glad I kept my hand mixer, but that's not the point.
For the amount of money we paid it should be a better product and it should come with a better warranty. We paid enough, we shouldn't have to pay extra. That being said, if it does die I wouldn't buy another Kitchen Aid.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A few years ago, my daughter took foods in school. She tried to get us to buy a Kitchenaide at that time. We told her no, that we would never use it. WOW! We were so wrong.
We bought one about a year ago, and I can't imagine life without our Kitchenaide. We use it for everything. I absolutely love it. My husband likes to make bread and uses it several times a week. It never gets put away, always out where we can use it.

My husband purchased an Artisan® Series 5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer in late 2003 as a Christmas gift for me. From the moment I opened the package I was impressed. The mixer was a beautiful shade of red that matched my kitchen perfectly. There were no defects in the paint and the attachments were in perfect condition. I was especially impressed with the plastic guard that allowed me to add ingredients without making a mess. I was also very happy with the performance of the mixer. I always have reliable, consistent results. Whether it was meatloaf or cookies everything was always mixed perfectly. The only less than positive thing I would add is the volume level when using the products. It always seemed a little loud to me. Overall I was very satisfied with the product. My mother has had a Kitchen Aid for over thirty years and has never had any issues so I know this is a product that will last. I highly recommend this product to anyone.
