I bought this to replace an old, lightweight Krups mixer that had served me well, but the motor was probably wearing out as it got hot the last time I used it, also it was not stable on the counter for thick mixing like cooky dough. I haven't used my new Kitchen Aid much, but I have used my daughter-in-law's KA a lot, same model, and I really like it. One drawback is lifting it from cupboard up to counter due to weight. Of course I realize it has to be heavy for the motor quality and stability. Fortunately I have a place on my counter out of the way where I can keep mine w/o having to lift it. Also, one has to be sure to remember to slide the lock, something I have forgotten in the past since it is not a requirement of the Krups. I am retiring soon from a long time volunteer position, and I plan to do more cooking, looking forward to using my new cornflower blue KA.
Pros: Performance
Cons: Heavy weight

I mainly use the mixer for cookies. I plan on trying bread soon. I am sure it will be just as easy to use for bread as it is for cookies. I have used other brand mixers in the past and they do not perform as well as this mixer does. I will not change brands again.

About a year ago, I made the mistake of buying a budget priced stand mixer. The whisk attachment came apart the first time I used it. I returned it and saved up for a Kitchenaid, which I now own in a color to match my house. Everything about this mixer screams quality. I am very happy to have it.
