The artisan is my 2nd kitchenaid mixer. They last forever! I got my first one in 2003 and used it nearly every single day from the day I got it. I'm passing it on to my daughter, who just got her first apartment.

This is my second Artisan Mixer and to be honest, my first one was loud when I first turned it on, but having never owned one before I wasn't sure if this was the way it should sound. After 10 years, every speed sounded worse than the one before, so instead of sending away for the grease (if that was the issue) or spending the money to have it repaired, we purchased another.
I love my mixer, I use it for just about everything. It really helps with holiday baking. Another great feature is the ease of use, my 6 yr old neice loves to bake when she comes over and it is her job to turn it on and change speeds. She wants one of her own now.
Pros: Design, Convenient Features, Performance, easy to use, Innovative
Cons: the bump in bottom of bowl beaters don't reach.
