I don't know how I went my entire life without a Kitchenaid stand mixer! It has replaced numerous other kitchen appliances like my hand held mixer, food processor, meat grinder, juicer, pasta maker and ice cream maker. Baking has become so much easier and enjoyable now. We'll worth the investment.

poor performance for price

Purchased in 2012, NOT heavy use (once a month if that) and it died this week. An appliance with this price tag should hold up much longer, particularly with infrequent use. It was great while it lasted, but didn't last long enough to be worth the price. Also, it spatters at any setting above low and the spatter shield does not fit/stay on the bowl well. It is also pretty loud, so consider that if it is an issue for you.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Powerful and versatile!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the first mixer I've owned that can do practically anything I ask of it (looking forward to trying more attachments!). The tilt head makes it easy to get in to work my batter/dough/etc. It's a beautiful addition to my kitchen!
