This is my second Kitchen Aid mixer. I had a classic for over thirty years, nothing wrong with it, I have arthritis in my hands and cannot hold onto the bowl very well while pouring things out, so I upgraded to an Artisan with a handle on the bowl. Also, I wanted one in my favorite color--Orange. Gave the classic to a friend.

I bought this mixer for my daughter who recently purchased her own home. I too have a Kitchenaid Artisasn 5-Quart mixer. I grew up using Kitchenaid mixers. In fact, I still have my Mom's Kitchenaid mixer she got in 1950 as a wedding present. I love the fact they can do heavy duty work, i.e. bread doughs, heavy cookie doughs, etc. I also use the meat grinder attachment. I was glad to continue the tradition with my daughter. These mixers make baking easy.

If you love meringue, but hate the long time it takes to beat it with hand mixer, this product is definately for you. It is fast becomming my favorite kitchen appliance!

Very solid and effective mixer.

I would like it better if I didn’t have to stop it to scrape the sides and if I could add dry ingredients without stopping (I found the shield to be ineffective in controlling the flour from coming out and making a bit of a mess).
