I received this as a Christmas present this year. I've used it twice and even thought I thoroughly washed the bowl and beaters with warm, soapy water, there was still a black substance that came off in the dough/batter.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've been using my grandmother's old Sunbeam Stand Mixer from back in the 50's-60's and it finally retired. Love my new KitchenAid mixer - even my husband likes it because it is relatively quiet. Quite easy to use as well.
