Great mixer with a few issues

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] #1) The stainless steel bowl requires significant scrubbing with salt and baking soda to remove a significant manufacturing film/residue which otherwise will grey the food you are mixing. I have not done this yet, purchased extra glass bowl so wife could cook right away. THEY NEED TO ADDRESS THIS. This issue SHOULD also be addressed in owners manual/start-up instructions.
#2) they no longer ship this unit with the spring to keep beater paddles tight on the shaft. Online inquiries say it is because they were hard to clean, and not necessary for proper operation. I disagree and want the spring so I can safely beat hard doughs... trying to get from Kitchen aide, they have not responded to me yet. If they do not help me, I will have to work with local hardware stores to see about rigging one up.

I love this product and all of the possibilities. However, I'm on my second one and both have had an issue with the tilt head not locking in place. When turned on, the mixing motion shakes the latch loose and the head of the mixer starts moving a lot.
