Great when working!

I purchased the MFC-J4620DW because the one I had, MFC-J4510DW, finally "died". I want to point out that both printers work really well, if and when they DO work. For me the main problem is for either of the machines to be "Offline" when I need to print. I had the 4510 about 18 months before it started going Offline all on its own. Usually, it would not print during the day, but go Online sometime during the night, so that when I got out of bed all the papers had printed, as requested. You might think that's okay, but frequently, I needed the papers the same day of request. I've had the 4620 about 6 months and it has started going Offline on its own like the 4510. I was hopeful the 4620 might be an "improved" machine. I have spoke with the Brother techs on several occasions to help get the printer working. I can NOT understand why a printer would be set-up with a particular button to take the machine Offline, but there is NO button to get it back ONLINE!! Very frustrating!! Obviously, I may need to change brands.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this printer for my wife who has been a school teacher for over 20 yrs. During that time we've mostly owned HP's and even a Lexmark. When her last printer crashed I went shopping for a new one and decided on a Brother. The form and function is definitely Appleesque. It does everything well and changing the ink cartridges is a snap! And it makes posters [in 4 or more single page puzzle pieces.]
Even our cats can lay on top of it without disturbing any parts or function. Customer service is very good. I highly recommend this printer !

Lived up to my expectations.

While the initial print may not be super fast, it is not especially long. Double sided printing without effort is wonderful. Print quality good. Included cartridges lasted longer than expected.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love my new printer but your technical support, not so much. I am not able to get the printer to print wirelessly from my iPhone nor my Mac Book Pro. However, my PC works wirelessly with Brother. Whoever in technical support was not able to solve the problem and basically blew me off. I was not impressed and was thinking when my two Brother printers died, maybe I should replace them with another brand.

After my old ink jet died - I looked for a replacement and decided that the "Brother - MFC-J4620DW" was a quality printer for my Home use. Easy to set up and easy to use. It even prints 60# 'card stock' with no issues. Wireless works very well from my PC. XXL series ink cartridges are reasonably priced and print a lot of pages before needed to be replaced. Printer 'awakes' from Sleep mode and Prints without delay. I have no reservations in recommending this Brother ink jet to others needing a quality printer for Home use.

Prints fast and for standard printing prints well. Software needs help. Included grayscale setting in software actually prints in color, so I had to make my own grayscale setting. Not intuitive for printing envelopes at all. All envelope sizes are not included and when you start to customize, the print sizes, actually printing them is way more difficult than it was on my last printer. Faxing from my computer is difficult as I have to use a dial around number to make long distance calls and the software for the computer and the printer both limit you to 20 numbers including the pauses. That is not enough. There was no limit on my previous multi-function printer/scanner/fax and I don't see why they made a character limit for phone numbers. I did find a work around though. I use the machine or computer to dial my dial around number. I use a phone that is not attached to the printer to then enter the faxing phone #. Since I don't send that many faxes, it isn't that big a deal. But it took me awhile to figure out a method to fax directly from my computer which was one of the two reasons that I chose this printer. I really like that the Brother ink is very economical. That was the other main reason that I chose this printer.

Excellent printer but difficult set up

After having a difficult time setting up the cloud print the printer was producing very bland, light print quality even though the firmware version was up to date. A friend advised to download a new firmware anyway and this solved the issue. Shouldn't be this difficult but printer works well and it get 5 stars.
