Great upgrade from ink jet

I got tired of replacing ink cartridges that had dried up instead of getting used up. 90% of our printing was black and white, so we went laser. Now the toner we buy we use.
Set up was fast and easy.

Brother laser black and white printer

If you can get the printer to print it is great, but it has issues finding the same wireless network. Sometimes it prints right away, other times it will print in a few minutes and then it can't find the wireless network and won't print at all. Very frustrating. When it can't find the network, I have had to shut the printer off and on, shut the wireless network off and on and then it might print or not. Not good when a customer is waiting for a receipt.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works Great

Printer works great once set up. Setup is not easy when using the small LCD screen and a few buttons. Configuring is much easier to change via the printer's web page. Would like to network via wire and wifi at the same time. Haven't found out if that's possible.

Networked. I use wired. Some may want wireless. This Brother has both.
Prints two sides.
Paper holder is inside printer rather than in a tray that sticks out.
Can configure from my Mac via a browser web page.

I own two of these, as well as a Brother multi-function printer. All are reliable. On this machine, I like the double-sided printing.

Great cost of operation, but not always reliable.

The cost of operation of this printer is phenomenal, but in Windows 10, it often goes "Offline" and cannot be accessed until after rebooting the printer and the computer. It is hard to set up so that it can be shared with multiple computers, and if you have twp of the printers on the same network, hang it up. We had to put the second printer on a dedicated USB and completely turn off networking. My parents have to plug their computers into the USB to use their printer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
