This is the first laser printer I have owned. I have become very frustrated with the cost and frequency of replacing color ink cartridges. I do not need color for most of the printing I do. For the few color prints I do I keep an inkjet printer hooked up. The Brother HL-L2380DW was easy to set up with my wife's Windows 10 desktop. All
functions ( printing, scanning, and copying) worked perfectly with her computer.
The only problem I have with this printer is that the setup with my Linux computer
was rather difficult. I spent a number of hours researching the web for information on getting the Brother printer to work on the Linux. Finally I found a setup program which I had to download which enabled me to get it to work with my computer for printing. I have not been able to get the scan function to work on Linux. What little scanning I need to do I can use my wife's computer, therefore I have not pursued getting that function to work on my computer. If Brother would include setup files for Linux machines on a CD that would install the proper drivers to make their printer work for both printing and scanning I would have given 5 stars.
I am a new Linux user after 30 years of Windows however, and if I was more knowledgeable with Linux I could probably have gotten the printer to work for both scanning and printing without much trouble.

i already had a brothers scanner and liked the touchscreen menus, software and overall operation so i decided to try this printer. it is great. i was so tired of the endless hassles with hp color ink cartridges, both the cost and constant printing problems [with two prior hp printers]. this works flawlessly and does exactly what i need, high quality black and white with no hassles or problems...

I have another Brother all-in-one laser printer and love it. However, it lacked one feature - wireless connectivity. This printer solves that and works great!!

Looks good, prints quick, poor font resolution

I like the look, speed, and wireless features, though fonts look pretty jagged (bitmapped) for a laser printer in 2017. The latest software for OS X doesn't offer selection for print resolution as is shown in Brother manual … not sure if that's the issue or not? Maybe I need to wait for an update? Also, I get faint toner coverage on large dark areas. Ho-hum …
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
