No issues to date. Remotely connected easily to three computers. A larger capacity toner is available.

So far it's worked exceptionally well. Quality of printing is excellent.
The scanning quality is better than the prior printer of a different make. I'd like it if the software interface was a bit less clunky and obscure. Brother Utilities needs to be more clear and direct when it comes to scanning.
As I print out note-taking sheets for my consulting work in the field, I use the 300dpi to conserve the printer cartridges - but I'm having to reset it from the default of 600dpi constantly. Perhaps it's there somewhere to keep it at 300dpi as a default but I've yet to find it. As to why it wants me to use more cartridges, perhaps it's to generate more sales.
I truly like this printer far more than the inkjet it replaced which had scanning that was easier to use but not quite as good. It also had a fax capability this one doesn't have. In retrospect I wish I'd gotten the next higher up model of Brother printer that allows faxing. I didn't because I hadn't used the fax feature on the old printer/fax/scanner for nearly a year and figured I'd save a hundred-odd dollars. Of course, just as I buy this model, my business use changed and that faxing feature would've really come in handy. Fortunately, I was able to get the receiver of my communiques to accept scanned and emailed copies of these signed documents.

Good print black and white quality, good scan quality. Ease of use is exceptional. No real learning curve to get what you want from this printer.

keeping mailing labels square with side guides is a problem. difficult to get it into the roller guides square. the lead in supports are very short. seems to be a design issue not easily fixed on this model.

Pity that the set-up instructions are not well covered for Mac users. In fact, for finding the appropriate download I had to contact Brother for technical help. The instructions should be updated.

slow, and constantly goes offline

Print & copy quality are fine. But this printer constantly "forgets" my internet settings. I have to re-enter them every time I print a job. There must be some setting that I'm not finding, but so far haven't been able to find either a canned answer or a live human to help me with this. And while it's just an inconvenience for printing, it makes it impossible to scan. Also, I wish I'd gotten a printer with a document feeder - having to copy & scan one page at a time is slower than I remembered.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
