great printer/scanner

I liked the Brother HL2170 laser printer I already owned, but it needed a drum plus I wanted to be able to scan and print with the same machine.
So far I am really happy with the 2380DW. It automatically prints on both sides of the paper as well as scans documents/photos.
The wireless feature is great since I'm able to place it across the room from the computer in a spot that's easier for me to get at.
My only negative comments right now are that it's a little noisier than my previous Brother and I've gotten a "jammed paper" warning a few times when in fact there was no jam. I merely had to remove and reinsert the device that reverses the paper.
I would definitely buy it again!

Deep Sleep terrible feature

Once printer goes into deep sleep it cannot be woken up sometimes randomly for hours. Extremely frustrating! When it does happen to work it makes decent copies.

Very impressed, great price!

It is amazing how low the prices have gotten on these 3 in 1 printers. (When the drum finally gives out it is just as cheap to buy a new unit!). Works great. Everything worked fine without using the CD-ROM installation disk, but if you really want to utilize the scanner to it's potential, you need to install the utilities. (Windows scanner program will only allow one page per file and no PDF. The utility, Control Center 4, allows for the PDF format and multiple pages of scans for one file). The color LCD touchscreen is quite intuitive. I downloaded the iPhone app, Brother iPrint and Scan, and it works great, allowing you to scan on the machine and have it transferred to the iPhone. Printing from the iPhone worked also. So far, no negatives. Only possible concern is that after 12,000 copies you may need to replace the drum (some other manufactures have the drum and toner in one unit, though they are more expensive than the Brother toner only cartridges). For many folks, the unit will be obsolete by the time you hit 12,000 copies and it is better just to buy a new unit.

Worst Wireless Printer Ever
on April 17, 2017

This printer refuses to remain connected to my wireless network!! I am constantly having to type in my very long WiFi password using their archaic method of up and down arrows after each and every print job.
If you're looking for a reliable wireless printer, DO NOT buy this one!!

Great printer with one serious flaw

If you don't use the printer for a day or so it goes off-line. You essentially have to reinstall it to get it back. I have another Brother that also does this. I have other printers on my network that don't do this. Clearly a Brother issue but all their troubleshooting points to the network.

Excellent printer

I was amazed at how easy this printer was to set up, even though I was setting up a new PC with...horrors...Windows 8.1 on it. My iPad immediately recognized it as well. Print was fast also. Very happy.

Fantastic Value

I bought this because of its size and weight (needed a lightweight, compact printer/copier/scanner) and was willing to accept some trade-offs to get small size. Turns out I didn't have to trade off anything. It is quick, does two sided copying and is fine for scanning (though it could use a better software interface). I couldn't be happier with this machine.
