100% waste of my money

We bought this for use at home - on a Chromebook. FAIL. I took it my offie to work with a brand new DELL computer. FAIL. We moved it to another office and connected it to a Windows 10 notebook, FAIL. MacBook? FAIL.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

When this printer goes into sleep mode, and there is no option to "never sleep," most of the time it will not print. I have 4 of us that use this printer in our home and all I hear is "it won't print for me." I check their device and it has the printer listed and ready to go, but if it is asleep, forget any printing. And it usually is asleep. Lost money on this one.

Squirrely behavior and crooked printing

The printer is OK for black-&-white documents on letter-sized paper or larger... when it works.
It will often go into a funk. At this very moment, it has been "receiving data" for a one-page document for five minutes. Canceling the job on the computer results in a "cancel printing" display on the printer's LCD that can't be cleared. And the printer can't be turned off or otherwise jolted out of its state; so you have to crawl under your desk to unplug it.
Lesson to manufacturers: Never put a "soft" power button on a device. You put a rocker switch on there that cuts the electricity off. Period.
Then there's the perplexing crookedness of printouts. I wanted to print flashcards on 5 x 7 cards, which is a size supported by the paper tray and manual feeder. But the printing on the cards is bafflingly crooked. How is it even possible to pass paper through the paper path crooked?
This printer would be a winner because of its reasonable cost (and, if I remember correctly, reasonable toner cost). But as it stands, it's not a winner because it can't be depended on to work.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Printer!

This has worked flawlessly for me. Drivers for Mac OS X installed easily, very user friendly, the printer is both fast and high quality. I like that the paper tray is built in, keeps the paper clean, it's a fairly large paper tray but the printer is compact. All in all I think I like this printer best for my home office over any of my previous printers.

Great Change from an Inkjet!!

I love this printer. No muss. No fuss. Just great black and white images. The ink cartridge is tremendous compared to an inkjet color printer that consumes gulps of ink. It is great to be able to print, copy so many pages and no longer worry about running out of ink! Easy to use and set up. I'm very happy with this model.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy to install! Many features!

I looked and looked for a mono-laser printer that was reasonable. I have never purchased a Brother printer before, but after reading the reviews, I looked forward to having one. I am always most worried about installation--it was very easy! Step by step directions were very clear for my Mac. I can print one or two-sided copies, quickly scan into my documents file, and make copies. I have used it for about 2 months now. The copies and printing are excellent. It is also a bit smaller than other printers which was a feature that I looked at. I would happily recommend this printer to a friend or relative.

difficult set up

After several phone calls with the Brother technical support team I am still having difficulty printing without reentering my router password. It is also frustrating to have to review my issue with the Brother team member each additional time the problem occurs.
