Throwaway….

The freezer is operational. The fridge temp climbs to 50 plus degrees. Can’t find an appliance repair shop that will service it. Problem is the auto defrost isn’t functioning causing excessive frost build up on the coils. I take the back panel out of the freezer and defrost with a hair dryer. The unit functions properly for another week. Considering that it’s only three years old, you wouldn’t expect this. Piece of throwaway garbage….

Pretty outside, a horrible internal design flaw

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Beautiful external design but they didn't think this through and it has a internal design flaw where every time you close the refrigerator door the pressure causes the freezer door to open just enough causing frost build up and food to not freeze properly (defrost). I've had the service team out to fix the issue and they replaced the seal but it still is happening. So every time you go into the fridge you have to manually push on both doors to make sure it's closed. And for a house with kids, this is not the product you want. And of course they won't buy it back or swap it out for something else. Just a bad buy!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Tired of everything in the freezer melting

For awhile I thought it was user error. Maybe I put something too big in the freezer door? Or maybe the kids aren't closing the door? After returning from a vacation to find the freezer door ajar and everything melted, I decided to take a good look at the situation. Was there something impeding the door cloure? No. What could it be? After several tests I realized that when I opened the refrigerator door and allowed it to shut using only the force of the gravity hinge, the compression caused by the door closing was enough to pop open the freezer door about 1/4". Enough to force the freezer to run continuously. And after days of continuous running with the door ajar, it was not enough to maintain freezing temperature. Now we have a sign on the door that says "CLOSE FREEZER", because this probably happens 1/3rd of the time someone opens the door. In retrospect this has been happening since the refrigerator was new, but I always assumed it was the fault of one of the kids. It's hard to believe after 50 years of using refrigerators, and all of the R&D that LG must put into product design that this could even happen. Haven't we pretty much figured out the basic refrigerator by now?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is a beautiful frig very large and clean looking. The capacity is very good which is the reason we bought it.. Poor lighting design where it makes it difficult to find things in the cave.. Shelving was flimsy and cracked in just over a year.year. our last frig was perfectly fine except we updated our kitchen and changed to stainless steel. Miss the lighting, ease of cleaning and the study shelves. Dont know if the shelves were damaged in shipping or a poor design but for a retired couple with no kids in the house to stress test the shelving disappointed that in less than 1 1/2 years we may have to replace the components at our cost.

Compressor failure

Complete lemon, 2 compressors and multi duct fail

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased in 2016 after reading online reviews, complete compressor failure in 2018 and also 2019 outside of 1 year warranty. Did recoup few hundred dollars due to class action lawsuit. Now in 2023, complete failure of the multi duct unit which blows the cold air from the compressor to the fridge. LG did cover the part but still out couple of hundred for the repair appointment for labor etc. service repairman stated that the compressor for the LGs have seal failure issues and undersized for the unit thus multiple fails are common. I would not purchase another fridge/freezer after dropping few thousand dollars for a lemon.

Love this fridge

The door in door feature is excellent. What an awesome feature and the capacity is more than sufficient for my family. I love the lighting; you can see everything inside thanks to the led lights. As for the freezer, it too has more than enough room and the drawers make it easy to find your items. Thank you LG for making my days easier.
