2 Years, 8 Months, and 3 Days

We purchased this refrigerator from Lowe's on the day we moved into our new house. We were not expecting to buy a fridge that day, but we needed one and still had the moving truck available. Pretty large, so getting it through the door was tricky. Water line attached--removed plastic coverings--plugged in the machine. This was 30 July, 2016.
Fast forward to 2 April, 2019 and the fridge and freezer are not cooling. Three days later, it is sitting empty, unplugged, and unusable. Being fairly handy with basic appliance repair, I check the condensor coils, evap coils, and all fans. Check the evap fans inside the freezer with a multimeter to ensure proper voltage and check the impedance through the fans to make sure the motors aren't inop. All checks out good. Notice the evap coils in the freezer aren't getting cold and the compressor is really really hot to the touch. Now I'm staring down the barrel of a sealed system failure and have to decide between a massive repair bill or just buying an entirely new unit. This is unacceptable at 2.5 years. Digging through various retailer forums, it seems this is not an isolated case of a single faulty unit. Not sure what recourse I have now, but no icebox for food storage means spending increase on trying to feed my family of four by eating out every day...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] our LG is a very nice looking and roomy refrigerator. lots of people that come into our home comment on how nice the refrigerator is and how big it is. that being said after owning it only 2 years the compressor went bad. LG immediately sent someone out to repair it so their customer service is great. but apparently this is a common problem as the technician told us that they have been having lots of problems with LG refrigerator compressors and that it will be 2 weeks before they can get their hands on one because of the backorder.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had the refrigerator for 3yr and it is not cooling. I purchased the extend 2 warranty from Home Depot which realistically only extended it one years past the manufacturers one year warranty so I am out of luck and out of pocket for the repairs. I would recommend getting a 5-year warranty at minimum this refrigerator seems to be temperamental
Pros: Style/Design
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Purchased 3/14/2016. Began leaking water onto the kitchen floor 18 months later (past the 1-year warranty.) LG repair man said it was a bad door gasket and replaced the gasket. But turns out that was NOT the root cause. Now on 10/7/2019 it is leaking water over the kitchen floor again. After doing a LOT of online research, have determined that it MAY be a design defect. Defrost cycle runs a lot and the melted frost (now liquid water) cannot drain down the little hose, because the hose gets plugged, this allowing the melted water to find its way to the kitchen floor. So WHY does the hose get plugged every so often? Is it too small? Is the defrost cycle too long or too short? How do we prevent this from happening every 15 to 18 months?
Pros: Style/Design
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This expensive refrigerator has had nothing but problems since the control board failed a few years after purchase. Then the compressor needed repair, then another control board failure, and now the fan is not working. There has been ice build up in the refrigerator from the cooling air coming from the freezer, causing additional problems. I would not recommend this product.
Pros: Style/Design, ease of use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had my refrigerator for about one month now. It is all that Consumer Reports said it was. And yes the lighting could be better in the back of the refrigerator portion but then they would probably be very hard to access.
