Love the Door-in-door

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have been using this for a month now and so far the door-in-door is the best feature. It is so convenient. The fridge is really deep and I think things can have the potential to get lost in the back. I added a lazy susan to help reach some of the things easier. The ice maker stopped working one day and I had to reset it by poking a small hole. I wish the stainless steel didn't show fingerprints so much. I bought a stainless steel cleaner and this seems to help a lot.

I would have preferred that it get a bit colder in both the fridge and freezer compartments. Minimum settings are 33 degrees and 3 degrees F, respectively. However, internal temperatures never actually reached these numbers. Then...quite abruptly, this refrigerator stopped working after only 3 years. LG's website says that it is under warranty. LG's representative says it's out of warranty. So, I have a $4000 appliance brick, had to throw out hundreds of dollars worth of food that went bad, and have been without a working refrigerator for two weeks now. Disappointed...

Larger Capacity Design

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This refrigerator was purchased to replace our aging 20cf with ice maker. The additional height & width with this design and storage configuration adds valuable storage space. The full width pantry drawer is a very handy feature. The glass shelving and door storage allow for better visual access to locate & retrieve food items. The default temperature settings were spot on after installation. The unit maintains a consistent temperature in both freezer and food storage areas. While minor in the overall performance and design of the unit, the door's butter storage area is extremely small in size, offering a very limited storage. Additionally, the built-in ice maker is quite loud when cycling and refilling with water. The ice storage bin is small versus the one being replaced. A larger capacity bin would be beneficial. The stainless steel front exterior with gray painted sides is an attractive design. Overall I would recommend this refrigerator for purchase.

It's big!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this to replace a similar top-freezer unit whose compressor was dying. We had recently replaced our washer and dryer with LG products and have been pleased with them. Their reliability record appears to be good.
This unit has about 15 % more space inside than our old one, but fits in the same slot between the edge of our countertop and a wall. It also looks bigger than our old refrigerator - first of all, because it's black stainless (which looks great) and second, it gets the larger interior volume by eliminating the stick-out handles and thus being deeper for the same overall footprint. The top of the refrigerator door and the bottom of the freezer door serve as the handles. Clever. The interior shelving is fine, but the added depth takes some getting used to. The ice maker works perfectly.
I thought there might be a problem getting it into our house, but the delivery guys just removed the fridge and freezer doors and then re-attached them once the unit was in place. Just as quickly, they attached the flexible tubing for the ice maker. The door is reversible, so make sure to have them get the hinge on the desired side.
We're very happy with it after three weeks. However, there are a few alerts. First, the stainless steel doors are not magnetic, so refrigerator magnets don't stick. However, the sides of the unit are enameled steel, and the magnets do stick there. Second, there is only one temperature setting. It's factory-set and is supposed to reach steady state in about 24 hours. Ours came close, but wavered a bit over the next few days. It's now fairly steady at 0 F for the freezer and 32 F for the refrigerator. Out attempts at trying to tune these were not successful, so we went back to the original setting. Third, the compressor does make some noise. My desk is about 15 ft. away, and I notice it, but it's not bothersome.
I'll revisit this review in a month or two and, if all continues well, I'll add the fifth star.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The refrigerator section has enormous space for food items. We just wish there was another butter/dairy compartment in the door. It is relatively quiet when running and has beautiful LED side panel lighting. It is somewhat dark in the back of the compartment. A light in the bark would be most helpful. The door open alert is a nice touch, but we wish there was an "off" switch for it when you need time to clean inside. The freezer section is also spacious with good LED top lighting.
Overall, a good quality product and we hope it lasts as long as the unit it replaces in our kitchen!
