Good fridge - water dispenser mechanism is poor

I bought the fridge 2 years ago. The water dispenser switch has cheap plastic parts that hold it to the door and trigger the water. After 2 years, one of the parts broke. After looking at the mechanism, (I am an engineer) it appears to rely on very small bumps to serve as a fulcrum to turn on and off the water - the bumps are smaller than the flex in the plastic stems meant to attach to the bumps. Poor design.

Always bought a side by side because we have issues with the grand kids not closing the bottom freezers draw! This model has a vacuum seal lower draw so they cannot get it open without one of us helping them so we close the draw Problem Solved!
Also we had to have counter width model because of space restrictions the model was not over priced because of having this specific feature! Very happy so far!

The key reason for selecting the LG refrigerator was the high scores awarded for the new linear compressor. Not a fan of this fridge

This refrigerator was in place when we purchased our house - I haven’t been happy with the design or function from the beginning. There are multiple seams in the drawers that allow spills to seep into places that can’t be cleaned.
When I arrange the adjustable shelves for optimum storage, a gallon of milk just barely won’t fit on the main shelf, so I have to raise the shelf above, losing 1.5” storage height.
The gallon container storage on the door isn’t useful to me. I keep one container of that size, and it shouldn’t be kept on the door-it needs to be in the coldest spot in the fridge.
There is a 3+ inch loss of storage space at the back of the fridge because the shelves have a slope and don’t go all the way to the back.
Now the compressor gave out. Customer service was helpful, and they will be fixing it under warranty. But we lost a lot of food and will be six days without use of the fridge

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Refrigerators are not high on my list of things to get excited about usually. This counter depth LG model is the nicest refrigerator I've ever owned. It is the first stainless one I've had, so it looks elegant and modern in my new kitchen.. But beneath the surface there are so many things that make this refrigerator a big improvement over all my previous ones. I love the bright LED lighting which illuminates the whole refrigerator. The shelves are clear so they don't cast big shadows over other things. The best thing is the clever overall design. Many refrigerators take up a huge amount of space for the icemaker and through-door dispenser. This model limits the space used to the door only, thus preserving the main refrigerator space for the food. Also it is so quiet I can hardly tell that it is running. Even the smallest detail is more pleasant than I am used to: The chime that sounds when the door has been kept open too long is a gentle reminder rather than the "scold" of the other refrigerators I've had. That sound doesn't need to be loud and abrasive - I'm standing right there - I don't wander off, leaving the door open, necessitating a loud signal to return to shut it. I would definitely buy this refrigerator again
