Reliability problems

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had two new compressors put in and the unit is less than 5 years old. First time a leak in the system and a compressor failure. Second time there was some kind of major leak in the evaporator, but compressor replaced too. Icemaker stopped working a year ago, but with evaporator repair it is now working again. LG warranty covered all the work.

Terrible refrigerator and completely unreliable

I'm not sure why I am getting this opportunity to review this product now but I am glad I did. I bought this refrigerator, brand new, in July of 2016 and since that time the compressor has failed 3 times. The most recently about one month ago. This means that this refrigerator has failed approximately every 2 years since I have had it and I expect it will fail again in about 2 years from now. This is a terrible product!

Great features and trouble free

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Putting the icemaker in the door is fantastic, out of the way and does not take away needed space in the refrigerator. Drawers and shelves easily arrange and removed for cleaning. Getting at the water filter is a little difficult, maybe that could be put in with the icemaker itself in the future. The counter depth feature is wonderful, we have a small kitchen and this keeps it out of the way without loss of space. Haven't had to use the phone line feature to find problems. We have had it for about 6 years and no problems.

We bought this LG refrigerator 5 years ago and the refrigerator worked quite well. We had no problems with the ice machine which is often a problem for many. However, three weeks ago, the ice machine began to leak and I noticed that the refrigerator was not cooling as it was supposed to. The freezer began to warm and the refrigerator warmed over the next few days. I tried to find some to service the LG and was told by several local service people that they did not service any LG appliance. I finally found someone to come out, but had to pay him extra for coming the distance he had to come. It turned out that the compressor died. A new compressor was covered by the warranty (10 years), but labor was not. I did have it repaired and I hope that the compressor will last. I have had many refrigerators over the years and have never had this problem with any other appliance. This was my first experience with LG. Not sure if I will ever buy an LG again.
