Amazing camera!

When I held the camera in my hands for the first time at the store, I immediately knew that was the one I wanted to have. I could feel the excellent build quality and the grip was perfect for my hands.
My main concern was the electronic view finder, as I had preconceived ideas against it. But the display is excellent and you quickly forget that you are looking at a screen and not an optic view.
Most important is picture quality. With its 24 mega pixels APS-C sensor this camera rivals with much more expensive pro SLRs. The autofocus is blistering fast and accurate. I like to shoot asport and actions pictures. With 11 images/second continuous shooting and the stabilized sensor you capture everything!
The different auto modes achieve very good results, but I prefer to use my camera mostly in aperture priority mode or shutter priority mode for action shooting.
As there are tons of functions in this camera, it takes a while to explore all the possibilities. The quick start guide describes only the basics and you'll have to dive into the voluminous PDF user manual to discover all the functionality. One regret though, there is no built-in timelapse mode. Meaning that if you want to shoot timelapses you need to use an external remote control. Not big deal but this could have been included.
No built-in GPS neither, but wifi is there if you want to quickly connect without using a USB cable.
The 18-135 mm lens included in the kit I bought is good for general use, but this camera will deliver its best with better lenses. With the 50mm F1.4 lens from Sony you can shoot amazingly beautiful portrait and take advantage from the max aperture to produce beautiful defocusing effects.
Highly recommended!

Best Camera I ever Owned

The Sony A77II meets my needs for photographing birds in flight and has rich colors for my purposes. I have an expanded lens collection and they all work great with this camera and the AF is fast and spot on.

Excellent Camera!

I started working with Sony's a55, then migrated to the a57, a very good camera!! My wife uses that camera now since I've again upgraded to the a77ii. I have not found a situation that the a77ii can't handle. It is limited only by the glass attached to it, and I have used old Minolta glass up to new Tamron and Sigma lenses, as well as Sony. The image stabilization inside the camera body is excellent! I hope SONY keeps that feature going forward. I've photographed a wedding and a family reunion since purchasing this camera, and have also photographed landscapes, macro subjects, and all sorts of experimental ideas. If I could ask for anything in the future, it would be the absence of the anti-aliasing filter and perhaps a FF sensor in this same or similar body and price!! That having been said, this camera is wonderful to work with, nimble, quick, accurate... and most of all... FUN!!!

Shutter speed is the best. Still learning all the features. Especially great for sports pictures. Auto is good when you don't know what to do.

Expensive but worth it!!

Expensive body compare to other brand, doesn't feel that great while handling it because of the small grip. So what does it do better?
Those are for me, minor details.
The image quality is good thanks to a good image processing from the chipset, fast AF, good low light performances, very good video quality. Lens are sharp and nice build feel (not a plastic feeling). The menu are very well done, only lacking a touch screen to make it the best for faster change in settings.(minor option). This camera is able to give you a good compromise in many aspect without losing to much for the price point.
The one thing I feel that was overview was the image/remote app that is lacking in everything for more use. But the image transfers is faster than some other competitor.

The best Crop sensor camera right now
on February 16, 2015

The ILCA-77M2 is a beast even though it's a crop sensor camera. But if you are a semi-professional looking for something to cut the other cameras in half, well look no further. The 77M2 is the choice but if you add some nice glass to the ILCA, BANG.....you got yourself a beast that doesn't want to stop shooting away. You will fall in love with the ILCA camera so much that you will spend more time playing with it then going to work.
Oh, yes I'd love this beast of a camera and I will say that if you are worry about making the transfer over from DSLR to ILCA or ILCE, don 't worry my fellow photographers. The ILCA and ILCE cameras make life much earlier for you and you get real results from the performance that these camera have to offer. I'd have Canon and Nikon DSLR's and I'd happen to stop using since I've purchase the A6000 A77MK2 and A7R.
Hey, i am not here to sugar coat the Sony brand, I'm here telling this to you about how it made my life earlier and better but with the enjoy of taking photos. If that is not good enough for you then check my photo out.

No expectations but definitely delivered

I've had my A77M2 around two months now and I love it. It only took me a few days to remember where all the options were in the menus. Battery life seems to work for me. I can't wait to purchase more lenses so that I can see the real power of this camera. - The reason why I marked it down in the rating was because (1) as stated before, no internal or attachable GPS (2) Why do I have an option to create a RAW file but no software to transfer/convert it from a Sony file onto my Mac (3) When purchasing an HVL-F43AM flash or larger, make sure you buy the right shoe adapter because all of the SLRs don't have the same hot shoe for all the other Sony flash accessories... You'll need to purchase the ADP-AMA not the ADP-MAA. I think that is all for now but overall I like the updated A77.

Advanced Features and Fun To Use
on October 14, 2014

This is my third Sony a-mount camera body and is the most advanced for me so far. The autofocus modes are impressive and helpful but require some practice to understand them. I'm very pleased with the auto white balance, which seems more accurate than previous models. The EVF is very clear and responsive, and I find manual focus with peaking to be practical and beneficial. The body construction is superb, and I recommend the vertical grip for the extra battery and convenience in shooting portraiture. RAW files will require some noise reduction but are very usable.Focus speed is fantastic when used with the 16-50 f/2.8 or the 70-300G Sony lenses - two of my favorites.
