Sounded great, it has not been so...

After a long search both online and in the store, we decided on the PDT750SSFSS Dishwasher, it seemed to have all the features we wanted and was a logical replacement for our old GE Profile washer we needed to replace. We had it installed and loved the looks of it. Soon after though, our experience changed as it would not dry the dishes completely. I never received a manual with the dishwasher so I went online and downloaded the PDF file to read up on what the problem might be. After a few more loads, and putting all the settings to their optimal positions, we expected our problems to disappear, they did not. I read more on the dishwasher and then checked the rinse agent level (it needed to be full and was), and even went the extra mile and ran the water until it was at it's hottest before starting the washer. The dishes still came out wet and/or covered in water spots. More investigation led to the discovery that the unit needs up to THREE hours with the fan running to dry the dishes. The main issue is that the unit does not have a heating coil at the bottom of the cabinet and relies upon hot water, rinse agent and a fan being on for an extended amount of time in order for the dishes to actually dry. Firstly, I should mention that I live in Southern California, and we are in the throes of a drought that has continued for many years and are not allowed to waste water, (having to run the water until it is hot qualifies as wasting). Secondly, I am concerned that if the fan must run for up to 3 hours with every wash cycle, it seems likely to me that it will eventually fail. Then Thirdly, I spent a good sum of money for a dishwasher with the reasonable expectation of it performing at least as well as the unit it replaced, and it is such a delicate system that it can be disturbed way too easily. The idea of having to hand dry dishes for the life of this unit simply because it dries the dishes in this novel fashion is very disappointing to my wife and I. I am currently awaiting the GE repairman for the third time in about 2 months, but have little to no confidence that the unit will ever work in a satisfactory manner. Caveat Emptor!

Little dissapointed

I bought this a couple of months ago. Dishwasher cleans great although leaving food on everything as suggested (not big chunks) has the tenancy have food baked on. Biggest complaint is the drying and the rinse aid. After 3 loads the rinse aid is empty. The dispenser has already been replaced by a repairman and still has the same problem.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased this dishwasher 3 months ago after my older GE dishwasher's motor stopped working. I have to say that I read all the reviews and that's what I based my purchase on. I'm so disappointed in this dishwasher. It has nice features and is quiet and cleans well but it was expensive and the racks are super basic. No variation in the size of the prongs. The wine rack doesn't hold the wine glasses very well at all. I wished I had kept the racks from my previous dishwasher because they had different heights and could hold different size bowls/dishes better than this dishwasher. For the price, I feel that the racks could have been better designed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
