We have been using our new dishwasher for about a month now. Runs very quietly. The only concern we have is that it seems to smell really badly when the door is opened. We have reverted back to rinsing the dishes before putting them in. Which the instructions say do not rinse.

disappointment

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a few months ago, and very disappointed, washes well but every thing has to be hand dried when cycle is completed, have checked manual no information on this? So no heat dry? Did I just get a bad unit? would love a solution to fix this other than buying a new dishwasher.

Pros and Cons

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mixed so far (6 months). Very quiet and negligible water and low detergent consumption. Door handle broke in one month due to weak design and heavy door action (no latch- the door simply pulls open, but the pull is hard and the door is heavy). Replacements are available, but installation was a fight- the broken handle had to be broken out and removed in pieces due to the snap-in design.
Cleaning performance is OK- occasional piece of stuck food, but generally all clean.
Drying is fair without intervention, but very good if you open the door after the cycle, while the dishes are hot.
Given the extremely low water consumption, rinsing is marginal. With the rinse aid, (Jet Dry) they recommend, dishes come out shiny but a bit soapy; there is detectable foam/ film in glasses. Speaking to service techs, this is apparently not a malfunction, but a design choice. I've tried using vinegar as a rinse aid, and it works well so far- no soapiness, but drying action isn't as good. Our water, BTW, is only a little hard.
I 've noticed some sour odor a day after washing dishes with food debris; the bottom filter must be removed and washed every cycle to prevent this. Less of an issue if you wash every day. Perhaps vinegar as a rinse aid will also suppress this. Washing the filter isn't convenient or easy.
Capacity is huge, and can accommodate big items on the bottom. This is mostly because the mechanism is very compact and the floor of the wash chamber is thus low. This means, however, that loading and unloading the bottom rack is a pain in the back. It's close to the floor, which is remarkably harder to use than the bottom rack of our previous machine. Also, the silverware rack is inaccessible without pulling out the bottom rack, so to throw in an errant dirty fork, the heavy, stiff door must be opened all the way to the floor, then the rack rolled out. This is especially a pain when the cycle has started.
The top rack is height adjustable; but the upper setting won't accept our tall glasses. The lower setting is again much closer to the floor than our previous machine, and less easy to load.
3rd rack for utensils is very good and easy to use.
User interface takes some patience- not very intuitve, and since the system operates with delays, hard to know what the status of the machine is, say, after you interrupt a cycle to put in the fork. I don't care for the lack of status information on the 'clean' front. Cycle time is very long- 2 to 2 1/2 hours, so there's a long time to wonder how soon it will finish.

Very Noisy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] LOUD; much louder than my previous dishwasher which was a 15 year old builder grade dishwasher. This states 44 dBA, mine during operation peaked at twice that amount. Honestly, the red light is pointless as I can hear this dishwasher from 45 feet away. This was the first appliance purchase for our new custom kitchen; very disappointed.

Awful handle

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this dishwasher because of the good reviews and because it was quiet. The dishwasher is quiet but the handle is flimsy. We've had the handle replaced at least 10 times in the 11/2 years we've owned it. If I could give it a negative rating I would. One star is too high of a rating.

Bad smell

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This dishwasher smelled funny from the day it was installed. We assumed it was "new dishwasher" smell (if there is such a thing.) Seven months later it still smells bad especially if it has not been run for a day. Also it is just too complicated to figure out all the different options involving pushing one button before another to change some option. They could have made the interface more user friendly. On the positive side, it is super quiet and gets the dishes clean. I like the third rack on top but don't find the arrangement of the tines on the top or bottom particularly easy to use, even after seven months.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After having owned a Bosch SMU3000DLX series for 19 years, and being very pleased with it, I thought since it was time for a new dishwasher Bosch was the way to go. Very disappointed with the new Bosch, dishes are not dry, water still in the machine the next morning.
