Cracked strip handle, but excellent cust. service

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this model almost a year ago and love it. However, I noticed yesterday that the plastic silver strip on the door handle is cracked right in the middle..vertical crack. I called Bosch just now and they will send out a repair person to replace it. Since it is still under warranty there is no charge. I asked if they'd seen this break before and the woman said, yes. I asked if the new strip would crack with time and she said it wouldn't since it is made of a different material. Great service...glad I called as soon as I saw the crack. Our machine is used daily since there are 5 in our household.
I would recommend this to a friend!

third rack and can adjust shelves

Has some quirks, but washes OK

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I find the loading to be very different than earlier dishwashers. The third rack for silverware allows you to remove the side silverware rack to give more room on the bottom rack. The bottom rack tines are too close together for most dishes and the distance between the tines on the middle rack is too tight for many glasses, which surprises me. Also, what I thought was a wine glass holder on the middle rack isn't, but apparently is there only to hold down plastic wear. I miss the wine glass holder from my previous dishwasher and the ease in loading that one.

Handle is the worst engineered part

While I am happy with the functioning of the product. The handle started to disintegrate a couple of weeks ago as I shut the door to start the wash cycle. Shards of plastic broke off and the handle insert cracked in two places. Thank goodness I do not have a small child. Got the replacement part but found the broken handle almost impossible to remove. Had to break into 4 pieces. Two issues: Why is the handle so fragile that it breaks in small pieces with normal use and how is someone supposed to fix this safely?

Bad smell

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This dishwasher smelled funny from the day it was installed. We assumed it was "new dishwasher" smell (if there is such a thing.) Seven months later it still smells bad especially if it has not been run for a day. Also it is just too complicated to figure out all the different options involving pushing one button before another to change some option. They could have made the interface more user friendly. On the positive side, it is super quiet and gets the dishes clean. I like the third rack on top but don't find the arrangement of the tines on the top or bottom particularly easy to use, even after seven months.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Doesn't clean without pre-rinsing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this dishwasher for 2 1/2 years now, and I keep hoping it will somehow get better, but it hasn't. My rating may seem unfair because it has great features such as quiet operation and loading comfort, but my primary purpose for a dishwasher is its cleaning capacity. I've had a Bosch dishwasher in the past and it was remarkable, which is why I opted for this one. Unfortunately, all models are apparently not created equal.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Oh so quiet.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The directions for setting the rinse aid are not at all clear. I like using the third pull out for my silverware. Because I am uncertain on setting the rinse aid level, I am also wondering if it will tell me when it needs to be refilled. I have not yet seen the add rinse aid signal..

Cleans well

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wish the exhaust vent was on the back instead of the left side. It keeps me from putting tall items like my cutting board on the left & I have to take the silverware basket out to put it on the right which also doesn't work well because of how the rack is designed. On the plus side it cleans very well & is extremely quiet. Love the 3rd rack also. And it's easy to move the middle rack up & down.
