Nice Size for Traveling

This is an okay scanner for traveling although I probably would not buy it again. The paper tends to pull to one side and the image scanned does not present a clear, good quality scan. To me, that is important when scanning important documents back to colleagues at work (especially for legal documents that need to be mailed to government agencies). Also long dark streaks appear on most of the pages and when you need to alter mistakes in a document by cutting and pasting material, those areas that are pasted in are clearly visible on your scanned copies.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Have not been able to use it. Follwed all instructions several times, and still can't seem to make it work.

Works like a charm everytime

I bought my Epson Workforce DS-40 about six weeks ago. One has to read the instructions carefully and review what other users had to say and what they learned about using this particular product. It has a high learning curve to get the maximum use. There are a number of nuances which may have a negative impact on different users. The learning curve is not so bad that it can't be conquered. It's learning to fly an airplane, but much safer. My advice to users that have little or no experience using scanners. 1. Read the instructions on using the product. 2. Use the product. 3. Practice. 4. Read the instructions on using the desired application software. 5. Practice using a single application to gain confidence. 6. If you run into a problem. 7. Try again and don't give up. 8. Slowly add an additional application.
9. There are all sorts of YOUTUBE videos out there; watch them even if they are for different portable scanners. 10. Learn from your and other people's mistakes. 11. Patience and practice makes perfect!

Wi-Fi connection failed
on June 28, 2017

I failed connecting this scanner even using AP mode. But Wi-Fi feature is the reason I bought this model.
I followed "How do I manually connect to a Wi-Fi router using EpsonNet Config?". I am not very sure about step 3 "Connect the computer to the scanner using a direct Wi-Fi connection. "
what does 'direct Wi-Fi connection' mean?

Had this for a month and been happy with it.

Bought this due to my all in one printer being too bulky to transport it from job to job. First used the WiFi but the batteries didn't last long so I switch to the USB method and it works even better since it gets the power from it. Scanning is easy from the program and saving is a breeze. The only issue is once in a while you do get a paper jam but it was easy to fix.
