This scanner is perfect for on the go wireless product it works just fine while i am away from home i can use my laptop tablet or phone to use program for the price it is worth it.

Adequate - good for the price

I purchased this scanner with very few requirements:
1) It must scan Legal (8.5x11) documents
2) It must have a small footprint (preferably fit into a drawer when not in use)
3) It must work without a lot of hassle.

It meets the first two requirements wonderfully. It is not entirely hassle free, but it gets the job done. The biggest hassle is learning how to feed paper so that they are fed in immediately and don't skew as the feed through. That sounds simple, but there is a real art to getting the scanner to grab your document as it starts its scan. I found that placing a small book in front of the scanner (to bring the paper up to the height of the feed slot) helps, as does applying enough pressure to the trailing edge of the document to give the paper a little bulge - pressing it gently into the feed slot.
There are two tiny design modifications that would make this scanner much better:
1) The upper edge of the feed-in slot should be sloped. As it is (square edged) paper tends to catch as you try to feed it in. A sloped top edge would guide the paper easier.
2) The bottom edge of the out-feed area should slope down, so paper naturally slides away from the scanner as it is ejected from the scanner. As it is, the flat shelf on the out-feed area is just enough to hold the trailing edge of a page, which gets in the way of the next page to feed through the scanner.

Absolutely Awesome

This scanner is Absolutely Awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It works great for me. I am a Notary Public. I like to scan all of the documents, Vehicle Title, etc. so that I can keep a record of them on my computer. Quite often clients come back to me requesting a copy of a document that they have lost. It also allowed me to throw my copy machine out. I simply scan a document and print it. If I do not need to keep it, I delete it from my computer.

The DS-40 Scanner is a great product, light -weight, compact and easy and fast. I travel with it along with the Epson Workforce WF - 100 Printer both units are very good.

Handy scanner

This scanner works well. It does single sheets, or you can select to do multiple sheets and make it into one document without having to select and merge them when finished. Also handy having the option to direct connect or use the local wi-fi from the scanner to a laptop. Scans at a reasonable rate with nice quality.

DS-40, Not with a MacBook Air you don't

If you have a MacBook Air, be ready for a difficult experience. I am still not set up so I can not review the device, only the setup process, it stinks. If I had known the hassle I was to experience, I would have opted for another device, instead.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Epson WorkForce DS-40 Color Portable Scanner is not only compact, easy to use, and reliable, but the picture quality is great too! I travel for work, so this little scanner fits perfectly in my carry-on luggage. I mainly use it for receipt scanning and small batches of documents. Works perfectly.

I am a road warrior and needed a portable scanner for doing expense reports and cutting down on the paperwork clutter. This scanner is great!! No problems so far. It is compact and works every time and is easy to use. The scan quality is very good. I would recommend this product.
