Makes Things Easier

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My stand mixer was a birthday present from my daughter. It's something that I had been thinking of purchasing for quite a while. I was so surprised and excited by the gift. I love to cook and am finding this to be such a help, especially with things like bread dough. It is so much faster and easier to whip up great recipes with my mixer. I love it and it's going to be the go to item in my kitchen!

Difficult to use; not worth the money

I bought this mixer KSM 150 PS a year ago and am having trouble adjusting to it. Can you offer some advice? The flat beater beats the contents against the sides of the bowl, and once on the sides of the bowl, it seems that the beater doesn't reach it to continue to beat it. The result is that I have to frequently stop the mixer and scrape down the bowl. While scraping down the bowl is standard practice for all mixers, it seems that I must do this too frequently. It is difficult scrape; I have to scrape down into the bowl instead of across the bowl. The beater gets in the way, and it is difficult to scrape. I thought I would like the feature of the shield, but the shield is difficult to attach, it doesn't fit properly, and it doesn't stop flour from getting all over the counter and floor. Every time I scrape down the bowl, the shield needs to be removed and reattached, making it very inconvenient. Also, adding ingredients through the shield is not easy and is sloppy. The side of the mixer gets covered with ingredients when adding ingredients. The mixer will NOT beat egg whites or whipped cream to peaks, no matter how long you beat it. Luckily I have a very old hand mixer and a small bowl from my previous mixer that I use for egg whites and whipped cream. Because of the height of the bowl, it only fits on the top shelf of the fridge, when refrigeration is required of the dough before baking. This means rearranging everything in the fridge to accommodate the bowl, or transferring to a small bowl to refrigerate the dough. Extra time and effort and another bowl to clean. I could have purchased a mixer for a third or quarter of the price, which would have worked just as well; but I wanted to be sure I got a mixer that would do the job well. Unfortunately, I am not pleased and wish I had purchased a cheaper brand. This mixer is a lot of bother to use and takes the fun out of baking.

Outstanding machine!

This is my second Tilt-head; my first got fried in an electrical surge in my kitchen (yes I rewired!). There isn’t anything this mixer won’t do: heavy cake batter, double recipe of cookies, light meringues, breads, yeast and quick. The attachments are easy and intuitive and efficient. I enjoy baking more because of Kitchen-Aid.

My daughters each have a KitchenAid and I’ve wanted one for years but couldn’t bring myself to spend the money on it at my age. I got such a good deal on it, I took the plunge! So much easier to bake now! No fighting with a handheld mixer and so much better for my arthritic hands.

Best Christmas Gift Ever!!

I do a lot of baking & as I’m getting older mixing & kneading has become quite difficult because my hands just don’t work anymore. I absolutely love my Kitchen Aid mixer!
