I've been a huge Blizzard fan since I started gaming oh so many years ago. Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo, not to mention their old school games. They are really great.
This time though, I'm not in their corner. I DO understand why this is a hugely popular game, but for someone who really appreciates a good game this just isn't one of them. The system is far to simplistic and unoriginal. Few races and few jobs make each character so similar to the next. The pointless and very thoughtless quest/rating system is not worth the time it took to create.
Picture 3D Diablo, and you've got World of Warcraft. Did I have a problem with Diablo, certainly not, but is this an original and entertaining game worth the annoyingly high monthly fee: Not even close! If this game were $XX.XX to purchase and then the online experience was free (aka Guild Wars) then heck yeah I'd be all about WoW. But for the price of the game + each "expansion" and then the monthly fee. I'll stick with ANYTHING else thanks.
Overall: Amusing for a moment, but not nearly worth the time or expense

This game has a lot of fun to offer, and in return you'd better have a lot of time to offer. If you have way to much time on your hands, then YES, get this game. I like the characters you can choose to be and I like the fact that you can play it with friends and talk to each other while you play (if you're wearing a headphone/mic set). To be labeled "good" though, is less about your actual skill in the game and more about how much time you have put into the game. You need gold to buy things in the game, and you get more gold by putting in the hours. The extra $15 a month to play online isn't too bad for entertainment if you plan to play a lot. If you're just an occasional player, though, that is expensive.
What's great about it: imagery, group playing
What's not so great: way too addictive, time consuming

WoW is a good MMO with addicting gameplay. The game mechanics are easy and fun to use. However, it seems when Blizzard runs out of ideas their solution is to add another grind. The game gets boring after while. Grind levels, then gear, then pvp, then reputations, etc.
If you are an MMO fan, it is the best out there right now, but if you do not want to waste a significant portion of your life, leave this game on the shelf and pick up an FPS or strategy game.

Its an ok game. It used to be great and the standard by which other MMO's are measured. Its very easy to get into and can be a huge investment of time if you are not careful. As time progresses WOW is looking more dated, and is being challenge by more modern games. That being said, those games have significantly higher system requirements and might not run on some ageing computers.
As a MMO this game also has a monthly fee. Blizzard is pretty good about adding new content to their games, but its still 15 dollars a month that could be spent on other games.
What's great about it: Fun, low system requirments
What's not so great: Monthly Fee, Cartoon Artwork, Huge Time Commitment

ive played this game for about two years now. i find it fun when your absolutly bored but after a short time its even more boring to play. its a fun game in the begining, i loved it all the way up to level 47 but i just cant bring myself to do anything other then chat when i get on anymore... its a forced relationship now haha. the only class i have ever injoyed has been the druid, but i guess its just not the game for me. also my friends dont play anymore so its boring alone. but other then that i like the graphics the gameplay and the guild im in.
What's great about it: its fun, you can meet people, and turn into ANIMALS (if your a druid)
What's not so great: the stupid fee, the stupid fee, and the stupid fee... repetitive, hard to stay in after 50.
