Huge capacity, unreliable quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The refrigerator its self is wonderful when its working. We love all the features it has. Holds a ton of food and haven really seen anything else with as much capacity. The reliability far out weighs the good features.
The coil design and fan for the coils however constantly gets clogged up with animal hair and dust. I have to clean it out every couple months or it pretty much plugs up. Never had this issue on previous designs.
Bought this originally because of the 10 year warranty on the compressor only to find out a year late, when the compressor died, that there was a class action lawsuit about how horribly unreliable these direct-drive inverter compressors are.
Pros: Style/Design, ease of use, Features/Settings
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The durability is very suspect

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I first bought an LG over and under refrigerator in June of 2013, the compressor went out exactly 4 years later. I had it repaired by the LG recommended service company and from that moment on it sounded like a dump truck. I bought another one in November 2017 and in February 2022 the compressor went out AGAIN!! I had it repaired because when I bought this one with a 5 year warranty (the compressor is supposedly warranted for 19 years, but generally it does not include the labor or response charge from the repairman. I’ll never buy another one as long as I live.

Turns out the infamous linear compressor failed on my unit as it had for thousands of other unwitting consumers who were included in a class action lawsuit. I am grateful, however, that LG honored its warranty and paid to have the compressor replaced.

I like this refrigerator but…

Very minor issues like the water button been a bit too wobbly and the writing coming off. However, the other night we woke up the next morning and the refrigerator was not cooling. Long story short, thank goodness for the protection plan because the compressor had to be replaced. Who knows how much that would have costed without the plan.
I really like the features of this unit but hopefully this was a one off thing.
