Love it...but

We bought this fridge to replace an 16 year old fridge that worked, but was outdated. I've had my new fridge for just over 3 months and while I love how it looks and for the most part, it's functionality; we are now having issues in which will require a service visit. The fridge is making very loud noises from the fan that goes for hours and can be heard rooms away. 3 months in to have service issues is definitely a concern for the high price we paid for this product. Additionally, it lacks storage for taller items (multiple gallon jugs, large ketchup bottle, 2 liter bottles, etc.)

LG LFXS30766S Refrigerator

Starting out this refrigerator seems awesome. The door-n-door feature along with the energy efficiencies, warranty and the 4.7 rating are why we bought the LG brand. The door-n-door feature is everything we hoped for super convenient for teenagers and adults as well. There is so much room in this refrigerator it's really hard to fill even with a family of 5. The WiFi set up can be a little confusing but once set up it's great. My wife loves the food manager, recipes and the grocery manager, I like the Smart Grid, setting adjustments and self diagnoses features witch makes it very easy to keep the refrigerator in tip top shape. The refrigerator is very quite and seems very well built. We will check back in a few months with another review...

If only it had worked out...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very excited to purchase this refrigerator, having read the reviews and researching all that I could about it, and I absolutely love the Black Diamond color. We have a custom kitchen that has a 36" space to accommodate this size refrigerator, with wood on the sides that extend out to 28", nicely covering the sides of our previous refrigerators. According to the installation specs online, only 1/8" clearance was required on the sides, so we knew it would just fit, width-wise. When the refrigerator was delivered, it just barely squeezed into the opening even though we had some work done on the width of the cabinet to make sure it was a roomy 36", and raised up the cabinet above it so there was a good two inches clearance above the refrigerator. We loaded the new refrigerator with the still-cold contents of our previous refrigerator, and waited 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize. Unfortunately, the temperature didn't get below 40-42 degrees, and within the Door-in-Door the temperature was 42-45 degrees, all this while the temperature of the refrigerator was set to 36 degrees. I called LG, and they were incredibly prompt to send a repair man out within hours; however, I was not very happy with that repairman's advice of cutting into the back wall and putting in a vent to let the warm air escape into the closet that was behind that wall. He assured us that the refrigerator needs to "breathe", and one needs at least one inch of air space on each side, and three to four inches of clearances in the back, contrary to the installation clearances that were listed for this refrigerator online. After he left, my husband and I decided that before we opened up the wall behind our refrigerator, we would check the temperatures once again with the new setting of 34 degrees, and we pulled out the refrigerator from the opening completely for more than 24 hours. The temperature remained unchanged, even with no obstructions whatsoever. I again called LG, and they were amazing to send someone else out within a very short time. This second repairman, though, was quite condescending, saying that both of the refrigerator thermometers that we were using were faulty (even though they agreed with each other and had registered our old refrigerator temperature perfectly at 35-36 degrees), and that I needed a smaller refrigerator because the 1/8" clearances were WAAAY too small, and the motor would be burning out within months because of the heat build-up in the cabinet, and the cost to replace the motor was very expensive, etcetera. He succeeded in frightening me enough that we decided to exchange this larger refrigerator for the 33" wide, 24 cu. ft. refrigerator that, unfortunately, was a special order and took weeks to arrive, and so we had to live with this refrigerator for about three months.
Because we had this refrigerator for a number of months, I can tell you what I thought of it when we used it. I originally wanted the Door-in-Door model, thinking that I could put all of our breakfast items in it and not have to open the main door of the refrigerator at all in the morning. Although it was a good idea, the temperature was always about 3 degrees warmer, and I love to have my milk very cold so I wound up placing the milk in the main part of the refrigerator, and the juice, fruit, and other breakfast items in the Door-in-Door compartment. This defeated my original idea of saving energy to only open the one door in the morning. The three drawers to hold produce were quite small, and many times I wished that LG would have made the refrigerator with only two larger drawers. On the plus side, the through-the-door ice-maker and water were fabulous. Always plenty of ice was available, and the ease of operating it was great. The lighting was outstanding everywhere: top, freezer, dispenser. The freezer was amazing, keeping everything cold, frost-free, and the two sliding drawers worked beautifully. As the months ticked off until we finally got our smaller refrigerator, the temperature of this refrigerator did seem to improve. We always had it set to 33 degrees and, on occasion, we saw as low as 37-38 degrees on our thermometers in the main part of the refrigerator and 39-40 degrees in the Door-in-Door area.
I see there is a question after this review about recommending this refrigerator to a friend, and I will say "Yes" to that, but with a caveat here: ONLY if you have a lot of extra space (38" width, especially) around where you plan to put this refrigerator would I suggest buying it. I certainly wish that LG would change their website's installation clearances to reflect what the repairmen both said: that for the refrigerator to operate well one needs at least an inch on both sides and an inch or two above and in the back.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a terrible time with the first LG refrigerator that I had as 4 years in in completely died. I bought a second one to replace it and the icemaker keeps freezing up. I unclogged the ice on it and when I plugged it back in the water dispenser wouldn't shut off so I had to shut the water off at the shutoff valve.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Loved it until it died. Have been without a working refrigerator for 2 weeks. Black stainless looks great but scratches easily and cannot be touched up. Suffering thru extended warranty buyout. No more LG for me.Thought my expensive present would have lasted more than one year

Great features and look but low quality build

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this expensive fridge expecting to have hassle-free usage for multiple years. For a year or so it has been perfect. But just last week it started making a clicking noise in the top/fridge compartment where the cold air comes in. Pretty sure the fan is hitting some frost build up. It goes away and then comes back. So the defrost cycle reduces the ice (but doesn't eliminate it) and then it comes back. You would think LG would design the heat/defrost element size and location and defrost length to avoid this. Otherwise it works great.
Pros: Style/Design
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
