Love this cooktop!

This cooktop replaced a 20 year old GE cooktop. Decided to go with GE again since the old one lasted that long.
This one is fantastic. No more food falling under the elements. Makes cleaning a breeze!
Heats up very quickly and the temp lowers very quickly when you want it to. I love being able to bridge the two elements on the left to use for one long pan or a griddle. Oh, and it has a timer so you don't have to go to the oven to set the timer! Makes pleasant sounds when the timer goes off. Not eardrum shattering noise. Love the touch controls. No, it doesn't take forever to get accustomed to using them after having an old one with knobs.
I read the directions and that's all it took. Used it right away. Love the quick boil feature.
And I love the way it looks! Shiny surface instead of those coils. And you can lock it so little ones can't turn it on by themselves. I'm going to be a first time Grandmother in a few weeks so that was important to me!
No issues with the installation. I've had the cooktop for a couple of weeks now and it's great! I've been using it a lot more than I did the old one because it's just fun. I'm sure that will wear off at some point. :) I would recommend this to anyone. I love it!

Looks good new

First of all, I was replacing an old cooktop so was limited to size - this was the only one in the universe I could find that fit the opening, plus it was black - the color of my other appliances - so it was literally my only choice. It looks sleek with no buttons; however, I used it once to boil some water in a teakettle and it left some residue on the cooktop where the teakettle was. I haven't tried cleaning it yet because I'm afraid to scratch it. I stated that I purchased this in the store, but I actually purchased it through the store, as the salesman and I spent hours reading dimensions online looking for a cooktop that would fit.

Sleek Design

This cooktop is so sleek and clean looking. There are no knobs to clutter the surface so cleaning is very easy. We love how it looks in our new quartz countertop. The touch controls are very easy to use as well. The only drawback that I see is that the controls are not lighted from behind so you must always have an overhead light on to operate them. Overall we are very satisfied with this purchase.

Nice Unit

We love the cooktop and the way it looks on our counter. the one thing holding back a star is to note if you site is not that good the touch controls are hard to see and almost impossible in lower lighting. I have reading glasses in a draw next to my unit.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Liked the old unit better.

We replaced a GE Profile PP950BM1BB with the new JP5030DJBB.
The good thing are.
- New unit heater up faster.
- Fit exactly into the counter cutout where the old one was.
- Like the sync feature on the two left burners so my pancake grill heats evenly, but I can't use the feature.
The problems are
- The whole top was more usable in the old unit. The controls on the new unit are in the bottom center, the old ones were along the right side. the new unit controls are too sensitive so they turn on whenever we put something on the controls. The old top wasn't that sensitive so the area where the controls went could be used for resting warm pans out of the oven and the controls wouldn't turn on.
- It is obvious that a young person designed the coloring of the controls because they are hard to read. The old unit's control coloring stood out more against the black and were easier to read.
- The center bottom controls get in the way when I put my pancake griddle on the left two burners. The edges of the grille touches the left bottom control and cause it to go on or off. Also the sync feature is almost useless with my griddle. My griddle worked perfectly on the old unit.
I know the designers always want to "improve" the styling, but they could have left the old one alone.
Not sure I would recommend this to a friend. It depends on what their situation is. I like that it heats up faster but the controls are in the wrong place and hard to read.

We do not recommend that you leave hot cookware on the control panel of your cooktop as this could lead to unintentional damage to your cooktop. Additionally, if your current griddle is too large for your cooktop, we recommend checking out our JXGRIDL1 as it is designed to fit on your unit without running over the control panel. Decent cooktop

It meets my needs except when I need two large burners. I love the fast boil feature, but it continues to boil even at the lower settings. So far it is easy to maintain.
