I've only used gas stoves in the past. This newly built home was only equipped for electric and was installed with this cooktop. It cooks well. Scratches easily. Requires cleaning after each use (even if only boiling water) as leaves burn marks. Heats to a boil quickly but doesn't keep heat consistent. Burners stay hot after turning off for an overly extended period. Heat indicators were initially broken and took several months for parts to arrive for repair to be done.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A basic model - no bells and whistles but works fine. The power boil feature really works well. Easy to clean if you stay on top of it (like any other cooktop). Installation was easy. Great value for the price. Replaced an expensive Jenair unit and this one heats and cleans up just as well - faster when using the power boil feature. Highly recommend.

Top does a great job cooking. Love the warming burner, does a great job keeping the soup warm without scorching. The power boil burner reduces your kitchen prep time when cooking your pasta. So far it has been very easy to clean. All around terrific appliance. I know I am going to really enjoy preparing family meals on it.

Be advised: Installation kit at junction box missing wiring harness. Be prepared. Suggest inserting cook top into cutout to see if it fits snugly to counter, rather than putting the foam tape on then having to remove. Last thing: The surface is very difficult to remove fingerprint or any smudges even when using the GE recommended Cerama Bryte cook top cleaner. Trying different cloths. Beware of this fault.

I love the staggered burner sizes. Most are both large burners front and small to the back. This unit has one of each front and one of each to the back. Also, the RAPID BOIL Feature works great.

Our last glass stovetop lasted almost 20 years and it was our fault it got a crack. We like a smooth top for appearance and cooking so looked for this replacement.
