Nifty Looking! Terrible design and skimpy manual.

I've had this a few months. It is nice that you can select the water level, as you soon learn that the autodetect thinks you don't need much water to wash clothes. I've had dry spots in the middle of sheets. The only way I've found to get clothes really clean is to stop the machine after it starts agitating, and let it soak for a while. Otherwise the super-short agitation cycle is barely jiggling out the dirt. And there are many more particles on my clothes now than with the stacked Whirlpool it replaced. Wish I'd just repaired that one again.
The water level does not go above the next to last row of holes. And you mustn't pack the clothes in. So you do more loads. This does not save water.
Also, the dryer filter is not adequate. I never saw lint on the side of the house by the vent, with years of the old machine. Now there is lint there all the time.
It says there are 6 temperatures. My hot water is very hot, so hot is scalding, warm is very warm, and the other 4 temps are just cold. I feel no difference bewteen them, and I've checked several times.
The biggest flaw is the endless spin cycle. Even on delicate, it spins wrinkles into everything. I guess they want all the water out so it takes less drying
time, but I hang things outside & don't need that. There should be an option.
The manual does not break down the cycles for you. There is no way to know how long the agitation & spin will be for the various cycles: perm press, cotton, etc. And at the GE site, they answer a question about this with ranges: Cottons are 19-34 min. What??!?!? How does one adjust this?
I agree with people who say this is loud. It is louder, in agitation, than any other washing machine I have ever used in the 50 years I have been using washing machines.
They could address the temperature and spin cycle length through software updates. I wish this were possible.

To get the maximum fill for your washer, we recommend selecting a Heavy Cycle and always use the Deep Rinse Option. There would not be a great amount of difference between the cooler temperatures. The Colors would be slightly cooler than Warm, and the Cool slightly cooler than the Cold, etc. The Tap Cold is the temperature directly from your cold water supply. If your delicate items are spinning too long, the washer may not be able to sense the load properly. You may want to add additional clothing articles to make the load larger. If the unit seems loud, we recommend to verify the shipping bar is removed and the unit is level. If this information does not help, then we recommend contacting GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance. Thanks for providing your feedback and choosing GE Appliances!

Extremely loud

I like the size of the unit and it washes and dries very good. Our complaint is the noise. The washing machine is extremely loud and noisy making all kinds of cranky noises. We just had it installed yesterday and I wish I chose another machine. The front panel was also dented and I'm calling to have someone come out to replace it.

This washer and dryer combo is great for a small apartment like mine. It's easy to use, compact, and isn't very loud. Great washer.

The unit is not even 3 weeks old and this is our 2nd service call...first the dryer, now the washer unit wont spin and eject water...

Very disappointed in the movement of the agitator, also do not like the water level, what's up with saving water and barely moving clothes in a puddle of water
