This itrip is great, I got it as a gift for my boyfriend and he loves it, it works with his iphone, and he can even use some of his apps with it (like Pandora), plus he can listen to the music on his iphone. It also works with my ipod, plus it has the ability to charge them both. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that it is really easy to just bump it and the station changes, but as long as you know that's what happened it's easy to put it somewhere where it will be less likely to be bumped. Great product.
What's great about it: You can play Pandora in the car using this itrip
What's not so great: Its station setting is too easy to accidentally change.

Although I think this item is overpriced, I'm getting my money's worth because I haven't stopped using it since I bought it. I love that I can finally listen to music on my iPhone while I'm driving to and from work, and I like that it charges the phone, too. I live in a relatively small city outside of Little Rock and work in an rural area, so I easily found a station that plays the music clearly with minimal static. I downloaded the app that accompanies this product, but I haven't used it at all.

The manufacturer should be ashamed of this product. It is constructed horribly with cheap materials. I bought this product when I got my first iPod several years ago. Within a year it was broke. I bought another one, same problem. The wire keeps coming out near the adapter plug. I will have to buy another one, but this time I will definitely use a different manufacturer. After the next one at approx. $80 I will have officially spent just as much money on the adapter as I did on the iPod...what a joke. I also bought one for a friend as a gift, she has had it for 13 months...same problem.

When I bought this transmitter, I took it out to the car and plugged it in to my iPod Nano (3rd generation). It worked, and the quality of sound was pretty decent for the price of the product. I used it for about a month, but then it began to act strangely. I live in Portland, Oregon. The radio dial is certainly not empty, but I should have been more than able to find an open station. The "SmartScan" feature doesn't work. Plain and simple. In fact, most of the time, it just sent me either to a station that was already in use, or to 107.9, which is the last frequency in the FM band. Eventually, the product ceased to work at all. I would plug it in, and it would work well for about 5 minutes. Then, it would slowly slip into static. I tried switching frequencies, but that didn't work either. The only solution seemed to be to unplug it for 24 hours and try again the next day. That made it work again, but only for another 5 minutes. Basically, I was left with a glorified iPod car charger that I couldn't play music with at all. Eventually, I sent it back to the manufacturer and bought a different product.
What's great about it: Easy to use, good price, good sound quality.
What's not so great: Reliability, SmartScan feature, LX/DX feature

I had purchased on off-brand FM transmitter for my i-pod nano and in Mankato, MN there were no radio stations with a clear enough frequency to use it. By purchasing an actual i-trip there were far more frequencies to try and use to listen to my music. The only problem is as I travel I have to change the frequency often closer to larger towns with several radio stations. Overall I am satisfied with this product.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: When travelling closer to the cities you have to change the frequency often

Easy to use. Sound quality is not clear at all. Seems pricey for poor quality. Not many devices on the market like this, so had to go with it. Still looking for better quality product.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: sound quality, not good value

I went into the store and asked an employee for help. I told him that I have had trouble with car radio transmitters in the past, and am willing to spend more money on a real good one. He told me that this was the one that I wanted and quickly walked away before giving me any other options, or asking if I had any questions (store was not busy at the time). Respecting the employees opinion I purchased the iTrip Auto FM Transmitter for Apple iPod and iPhone. I was happy with the ease of use, but very unhappy with the quality of the connection that It provided. It is impossible to get a connection without any white noise and I have to constantly change the station just to hear the bits of pieces of a song I want to hear. The scan method doesn't even find a good station for me to use as it often picks stations that are major radio stations in my city and other stations that will not play what I want but rather white noise again. The scan button is completely useless. I wish I never bought this product and would definitely return it if I had not thrown away the box and receipt.
We're so sorry to hear about the trouble you had with your iTrip! Unfortunately, the FCC has set limits on the broadcast strength of personal FM transmitters so that they won't interfere with licensed, high-powered stations. Your best course of action is to try to find three staticky stations in a row, and then pick the middle frequency to use with your iTrip. If you're not able to find a consistently staticky station in your area (even silence means that something is being broadcast on that frequency) then a better bet for you might be a different type of audio connection, such as an auxiliary audio input or a cassette adapter.
If you are able to find a consistently unused frequency in your area, and the iTrip is still not performing up to snuff, then your iTrip may be defective. In that case, just give us a call at (800) 208-5996 between 9am and 6pm Monday through Thursday or between 9am and 5pm on Friday (CST) and we'll see what we can do for you.

I just bought it yesterday. Used it as soon i got in my car. It doesn't say or i just didn't know that you have to download a app on your Iphone to use the FM transmitter. Which only took seconds to DL. When i first starting using it, It had alot of static but after i found a good station it sounded alot better. It is alittle expensive but if you really need it then i guess its worth it. And its very easy to use. Pretty simple. Not rocket science. Just plug and play.
What's great about it: Easy to use and sounds okay.
