Great film, haven’t seen it in years and this was a great way to see it again. The HD disc is right behind the 4K disc on the same clip, which I thought was a bit cheap. Discs can get scratched like that.

‘Black Hawk Down’- a story of heroism and grit

This is one amazing, true story. Ultimately they were there for one another. One message was “Nobody ask to be a hero.” But they were! The ending was pretty amazing.
This 4K looked very, very good but presentation was purposely a bit “grainy” at times. Style.
Sound was outstanding throughout.
This is really a classic that I just never purchased until now!
Highly recommended.

Blu-Ray version is fairly mediocre

This was one of the early Blu-Ray releases. Since then, optimizations to visual quality have been made (new codecs and such) to newer Blu-Ray titles. The Dark Knight is one of the more eye popping Blu-Ray's I own that I feel justifies owning a Blu-Ray player. Black Hawk Down on the other hand, is not. There's too much yellow shine in many of the scenes and film grain is literally everywhere on the screen for the entirety of the movie. Compared to the DVD version (which my dad owns), I honestly prefer it over the Blu-Ray version (and I only paid $4 for this on clearance). That being said, the sound quality is excellent and would be one of the few redeeming qualities of this version (though the DVD wasn't too far behind).

What's great about it: Sound quality is very good

What's not so great: Picture quality isn't too much of an upgrade over the DVD version

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The digital copy DOES NOT include the extended cut yet the case would have us believe so. Basically I’ve been in constant email talks with Vudu, SONY and Movies Anywhere and it’s been like musical chairs in terms of accountability. Bounced around like crazy. The case and pamphlet inside do not state at all that you don’t get a digital copy for the extended cut so it’s ridiculous upon redemption that you only receive the theatrical cut on VUDU. This was poorly marketed. It would’ve taken only one more sentence with an asterisk on the case saying ‘Hey Fam the extended cut is disc only and the digital copy is only theatrical’. See how simple that was. Even then, I wouldn’t buy it of course if they did actually do that. At this point I’ve semi given up and taken this L. A Vudu agent emailed me again recently so I’ll update this accordingly if I can.

VERY GOOD MOVIE

I am Shootergamerguy and yes I have played many shooter videogames and watched many military movies. I am posotively sure that you have read some of my reviews, and if you havent then my experience with playing those games and watching these movies is the only reason why I write these reviews. Black Hawk Down is a great movie that features a compeling true story about 18 or 19 U.S. Rangers and Delta Force soldiers lost their lives in the battle of Mogadishu or "Black Hawk Down". This movie is definetly one of my favorites that I have watched over and over again. I would reccomend this movie to you because of the good action and acting involved in this beloved film. If you want a good movie to watch on Saturday night, I would pick theis movie up as soon as possibile.
