You'll need a backup refrigerator!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this refrigerator six years and three months and the compressor has failed twice, once under full warranty and once under parts only warranty (meaning considerable expense for labor). The first time we lost everything in the refrigerator and freezer. The second time I bought a small refrigerator so we wouldn't lose absolutely everything. It took a week for the repairman to come the first time and almost two weeks the second time, so it's easy to see why a backup is necessary. After the second repair the main compartment is still not getting really cold and we are told (by the repairman) that we have to unplug the refrigerator for two days to thaw out some hidden duct. Ugh!
BTW, the door-in-a-door feature supposedly keeps cold from being lost if you just want some milk, say, but that coin has another side, too. It keeps the cold out of the outside part of the door--milk in the door always 2-3 degrees warmer than milk kept inthe main compartment.

It just had a heat lung transplant (as our LG repair person, Ken, called it) due to gradually losing its cooling capacity over a 1 week period. So since we like it and it was still just within the warranty period we decided to have i fixed. Now after a new compressor and condenser it is like new and working great.

Some problems

Happy with this frig for the first 7 years. But now the door on door does not close cleanly. It really has to be pushed for it to connect and close tight. And now the little inside door tends to spring open. The compressor just went out and cost quite a bit to have it replaced.All in all it has always kept everything cold.

Continually sweats around the doors. doors do not seal tight. tried new seals and it was worst so put the old seals back on
