Nice size but too many problems

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have now owned this refrigerator for just about 4 years and went it works, we love it!
Right after the first year we had a problem with the water line that feeds the ice maker in the door. As a result, LG sent us a new door but forgot to send the ice maker so we were without an icemaker and new door for about 3 weeks. They repaired that for free. Next we had to have the compressor replaced right before Thanksgiving. The compressor failure was a know problem so once again, LG paid in full for the repair but we were without the fridge for a full 3 weeks and lost a bunch of food that was in the unit when it failed. They promised to send me a check for the loses but I'm still waiting.
Pros: Style/Design, ease of use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Fridge...But issues WAY too often!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this fridge almost 4 years ago and have had compressor issues at least once a year, losing a full fridge and freezer of food each time. LG repair came out the first time and confirmed this model has issues and not much can be done. We now have to plan ahead to do a full 24 hour defrost every 6 months to stay ahead of it, otherwise it will catch us off guard. I wish it worked better, we'll have to replace it soon to save our sanity!

Stopped cooling for the second time in five years

Purchased 4/19/15. Main board went out and it built up a giant ice dam. It took two days to thaw. Had to toss almost everything.
Yesterday, it stopped cooling again, and makes a weird grunting sound. We had to toss everything again. Repair guy the first time said LG shipped these units with bad electronic boards and they have had lots of repair calls.
We have no idea what caused this latest failure.
LG will never be on my list for a refrigerator again.

DEFROSTING: Pain in the neck

feature is not one of the features we appreciate because we must, every three months, empty the frig, unplug the power and spend four hours or so defrosting the lower back panel which becomes solid with ice.

Bought this fridge on 7/6/2018. Jan 6, 2020 it stopped freezing/cooling food. Unplugged it for a few minutes. Plugged it back in and it started working again. Fast forward to March 11, 2020. It stopped freezing/cooling again. This time that trick doesn't work. Food is thawing out fridge contents spoiling. Submitted claim through extended warranty and appt date is over a week away. This is unacceptable. Contacted LG directly through chat. They claim there is only a partial warranty (parts only) on sealed system. However, website shows 5 years parts & labor on sealed system for this model of fridge. At wits end
