"Final Fantasy XIII" is a very fun game, but it gets repetitive with same waves of monster parties and the lack of towns. The monotony is only broken up by CG movie of despair. Nonetheless, the story is pretty interested with a few great twists and the customization of the characters and their weapons are deep.
My Best Buy number: 574679428
What's great about it: Excellent visuals
What's not so great: Too reptitive combat system
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is Final Fantasy versus XIII which means the main character is a guy. The game uses the White Engine which is supposed to use six out of eight of the cell processors in the PS3. Square-Enix always uses high quality sound which means it will more than likely have 7.1 Dolby Digital as an option. This is not a classic RPG style game. This one will play more like Kingdom Hearts if you want a decent reference. Nothing is really known about the story yet. This is one of two Final Fantasy XIII games coming out for the PS3. I am looking forward to this game's release.
What's great about it: Awesome looking game, great detail to a futuristic city

For those who don't know, Final Fantasy XIII has 3 pieces, all of which take place in the same universe, but in a different location and time.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII Final Fantasy XIII Final Fantasy Agito XIII
This of course is the 1st installment. Final Fantasy XIII is slated for release in 2010. I hope this clears up any confusion, which is the one we see footage of all over the web. Details of the other two have been well not that well publicized in the US. You can find some info on WIKI with links to Versus and Agito's Japanese websites. You will need to set your browser to translate the webpages for you if applicable.
What's great about it: It's From Square it is going to be good

This is a great game for FF fans. The graphics and story are awesome. The new battle system is ok once you get use to it. The game play can become repetitive.
What's great about it: The Story and graphics
What's not so great: Lack of free roaming through out the game.

FF13 had a lot of build up. The game lived up to some of that build up. You will not find better graphics. The character look real and the cutscenes look like movies. The main plot was a disappointment because it was short and easy. Hardest part of the game is earning 5-star ratings on fights. The missions are fairly easy, yet I still need to beat the last 7. In all the past Final Fantasy games, gil(currency) was important from start to finish. It only become important near the end. The weapon and armor was very limited and disappointing. I played FFXI for 5 years, this part of the game was a serious step back in the armor and weapons department. No EXP and no leveling was major change. When you think of RPG you think of levling and growing more powerful. That aspect just wasn't in this game. I did enjoy the game and graphics. If you are waiting for FFIV to come out this will hold you over but it will not provide the addiction that FFXI had. Now that SE has improved its graphics, time to go back to the challenging gameplay that made FF series famous.
What's great about it: Stunning, life-like graphics

I'm just a little amazed by those who choose to write a review about a game they know absoulutely nothing about other than how the preview looks. If I played games based on how good the previews looked, I would waste a lot of money. I'm just saying, don't put all your eggs in one basket. What looks terrible could end up being the best game you ever played. Sillies...
What's great about it: Graphics, Story, Battle System
What's not so great: Haven't figured that out yet...

The Good: The graphics in this game are amazing and the cut scenes are frequent, long, and entertaining. Also, some of the game play changes are neat like the paradigm shifts and weapons/accessories upgrades.
The Not so Good: For those of us who have played nearly all of the FF titles this game is much more linear than past games. There is not the ability to explore at your leisure. You just plod along killing monsters, then cut scene, then killing more monsters, then another cut scene, and on and on. Also, the cut scenes while cool can get very corny at times.
That being said this game is still good but for me, someone who has been looking forward to this game for a few years now, it falls a little short.
I should disclose that I am playing chapter 10 right now (about 25-30 hours in) and have not finished the game so maybe it will open up more.

Final Fantasy XIII is an in-depth, challenging, entertaining game that delivers. Graphics and Sound are simply amazing. You will have your breath taken away at some of the photogenic backrounds and character detail. Character developement is great each with a personal story that contributes to one another and the overall story. The battle system is fast paced with lots of strategy to master the "Paradigm Shift". If you enjoyed FFX this is the game for you. Many people seem to love or hate this game. Haters cannot stand the linearity of the story and leveling up. But I find it a nice change of pace that was different from the previous FF. Lack of towns, NPCs, true, while I to did miss, it's traded for a lot more in my opinion.
