This movie gets you scared right from the beginning and then never lets up. Also, there is no annoying background music like in The Cave, which makes it more scarier.

-I was skeptical about this movie at the beginning, but man I was wrong. This movie has everything that is awesome. Hot chicks, weird bat-like humanish creatures, gore, flesh eating, broken bones, and of course unexpected awesomeness. -The only thing that I thought was not awesome was after two of the main characters encounter the creatures they automatically became amazing fighters and crazy. -On a side note, I saw this movie with my fiance and one of my friends and his girl and my friend left halfway through. He straight up told that he was scared and he was going to have nightmares. He's 23. It was awesome.

This movie is great. I won't go into the plot, but the movie is incredibly tense for its entire duration after the women enter the cave. The original unrated ending works better than the US R-rated ending (there's an extra feature highlighting the differences). The other documentaries are informative, and it's great to see the cave sets they used in full view. Highly recommended.
What's great about it: good extra features, good transfer

This is a must watch movie, I wish I would have seen this at the Theatre. From the get go you are shocked how it starts, then when the movie progresses it starts to get scary, as you keep watching it just gets scarier. I would recommend seeing the unrated version as its ending is better than the "R" version. Also recommend "28 Weeks Later".

This movie was so scary to me! I loved it! The movie does take awhile for the action to kick in, but you are waiting in suspense the whole time. When the action does start, it doesn't stop, not until the last second of the movie.
What's great about it: Scary
What's not so great: Takes awhile for the action to start

Neil Marshall's second film is by no means secondary. "The Descent" tells the tale of Sarah, whose husband and daughter were killed in a grisly car accident. The following year, her friends decide to cheer her up by exploring an uncharted cave.
The unrated director's cut contains the Neil Marshall's alternate ending. It will spook even the most unmistakably apathetic moviegoers.
The DVD contains an interesting making-of and a featurette chronicling the differences between the original ending and the US theatrical ending. Highly recommended.
What's great about it: good transfer, nice special features

This is an unbelievably good movie. If you like to sit in the dark and have the heck scared out of you then this is for you. As some others have said, it does get off to a slow start, but you actually get a good feel for the characters during that time. Once the action starts, OMG look out.

The title itself and a brief summary do no justice to this bone-chilling adventure. I remember seeing the trailer and hearing it was by the same makers as the Saw series, and since I am a horror/suspense/thriller buff, I finally gave it a chance. I was reluctant, because the details about it didn't seem appealing, but I highly recommend you try it out.
What's great about it: good story, frightening, memorable
What's not so great: underrated/most don't know about it, a bit too dark
