Great all in one - MFC 2740

This all in one is a big step forward for me compared to the cumbersome process I used with an old scanner. Now, I can copy a stack of documents with the auto feeder, even do 2 sided copying. I can also scan to file and fax. Most of the time I just use it for printing. I barely looked at the instructions, the machine operation is very intuitive. I connected very quickly to my home network. The wireless connection allowed me to move the unit to another position in my office and reduce the clutter on my desk.
I am most pleased with the unit and think it is a great value.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Small but mighty

Control Center works for one PC and not the other. They're both the same PC. I don't understand why. Otherwise this is a great machine.

Not better than Brothers cheaper model

I have the Brother HL-2280DW model for home use but I purchased MFC model for work. The one at home can't seem to connrct to the wifi after scanning a few photos and to get it back to wireless is difficult because the instructions are unclear and so I have to connect to the printer.
With the MFC model, I expected higher quality; faster printing/copying, but it's not, perhaps slightly slower. The other issue is the hinge on the printer door for copying is so sringy that it makes a loud noise, startling if you're not expecting it. It's not smooth; makes it seem very cheap! In addition, the ink drum indicator states the drum is empty when it's not, ehich also had me replace it way too soon, wasting product and money!
I would not recommend this model.

What I Needed

4+ mos: trouble free operation. Very good prints. Features a little confusing. scanning feature clumsy, also confusing. Owner's manual not very helpful. Operates great. A little frustrating setting up for a while. Doing OK now.

Title says it all, except for updating firmware. The machine asks for a password that I don'the have and never had. I called the help desk to fogure out how to reset and they were not helpful, a bit rude and condescending. I tried the online help and got nowhere.
Overall I like the printer a lot, as long as I never have to upgrade the firmware, which after six months, I still can'take accomplish.

A great all in one machine!

It took a couple tries to get it hooked up with my computer but now operates perfectly. I like the duplex scanning and printing which saves paper. It does everything that I need in my home office.

SMALL ENOUGH FOR A DESK, YET CAN HANDLE HEAVY VOLUME, NO BREAKDOWN ISSUES, EASY TO USE, QUIET...THE GIRLS IN MY OFFICE LOVED IT SO MUCH, I BOUGHT 2 MORE MACHINES AND GOT RID OF THE OLDER BIGGER ONES..ALL OF MY MACHINES ARE BROTHER!
