Excellent Printer for the Home Office

This model "2740 series" has significant improvements over the older model "7840 series" that I replaced.
This is a great machine. All key functions of this new model work flawlessly. Wireless printing is a "plus-plus..!"

Best printer I've ever owned

This printer is terrific. Quality is great and the number of convenient features built into one compact printer is incredible. The fact that it not only prints but scans, duplexes without having to take paper out and put it back in the right way, has sheet feeder that actually works really well, talks to every computer on my home/office network and prints from my iPhone and iPad is amazing. And so far it's quite reliable. I have no complaints; I'm thrilled with this printer! It's a great value for the price, too.

Excellent printer but Linux needs more attention!

The printer is excellent . My platform is Linux openSuSE.
Before being at the point of saying that the printer is excellent, I had to struggle with the install as well as some contradictions between the docs and functionality.
It seems that Linux users are at the disadvantage because for the install as well as other settings Linux platform seems a little bit neglected. I tried to open some lines of communication by sending some emails to get answers but unfortunately they ended up being ..... passing to the appropriate groups but at the time of this writing nothing happened .
Let's hope that Brother Co. puts some efforts on equally covering and servicing all platforms .
The excellent rating is for the hardware .
The ratting for Linux install, settings software/procedures is ... average .

Purchased this printer on recommendation of my computer tech guy; I also own a HP 3-in-1 printer which I will now use only for photo printing. Ink cartridges for my HP are outrageously expensive and most of my print needs are for black and white. I have not begun to explore all the Brother features, but so far I am very happy with my machine.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Fails to Stay Online

While this printer does a fine job of printing, I have to turn it off and on again to get it to connect to the internet every time. I have contacted Brother numerous times and they say it's a problem with the model. Sad.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
