Great Features and Value

After having way too much trouble with ink jet printers I decided to try a laser printer. I finally decided on this model Brother printer and am very pleased with it's features and ease of use. I just hope that I will be just as satisfied 2-3 years down the road.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Does everything I wanted in a copier/printer

It is fast enough. The copier/scanner has useful features. It is easy to use either from my computer or as a copier.

Not easy to install and use

I still can't fax. I'm the ping pong ball between my phone service and Brother. We've tried everything. I have to resort to scanning things to the web, then emailing them. I can't get a straight answer, either.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The only inmprovement I would suggest on this model is to be able to print out individual comfirmation of faxes with photo

copy, fax, and are fast

I use a Quicken program with my old HP printer I could print checks by loading checks face down with check # at the front of paper tray to me this would be the normal way to load checks with this printer I have to load checks face down with check # to the rear of paper tray.

Hasn't worked perfectly since it was purchased

There have been multiple issues with it...when I use the copy function by inserting the paper I'm copying into the tray on the top it makes a terrible squealing noise for 5-10 seconds and does not suck the paper through. this can happen once or 10 times in a row before it actually DOES suck the paper in. There's no rhyme or reason why it makes that noise and doesn't suck paper through every time. It goes through toner extremely fast. The touch screen sometimes doesn't work - have to repeatedly touch the screen buttons to get it to do what you want. It makes good copies/print outs, but just very noisy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
