Price and value excellent after reviewing many fax machines with copy scan options. If you have home based business, this model is a real horsepower make.

Great compact laser printer

I was tired of being held hostage to the inkjet printer business model. I don't print a lot and I don't need color. I wanted a small footprint, light duty laser printer. I read all the reviews and settled on the Brother MFC-L2740DW. I am happy I did. This printer meets all my needs quite well. I use the USB connection, not Wi-Fi, by choice. I have a separate (and very slick) sheet feed scanner, so I haven't used the built-in printer scanner. I've seen two drawbacks so far, both very minor for my situation: (1) I'm not sure how many pages you can print without needing to snatch them from the output slot. I think it is not very many, maybe 10? Just pay attention when you print something longer than that and keep the output slot clear. (2) When the printer wakes up to print the first page, it draws a lot of power for a second. It causes a momentary brownout in the room I'm in and causes my UPS on a different outlet to kick in for a moment. I probably have too much office/computer equipment on that one electric circuit. I suspect ANY laser printer would draw a similar amount of juice. I'm giving this printer 5 stars for living up to my expectations.

I wanted a simple multi function laser printer. This is exactly what I got, love it. been using it for about 3 months now and it works great, easy to use. love the wireless part, love the automatic 2 side printing..

Great - Inexpensive Laser Printer for a home!

Very reliable, easy to set up and very clear. Well worth it for the value and especially for letters, memos and all black and white printing. The fax machine, scanner and copier all work great and hook up through the control center wireless.

I like the compact size and the print quality but the method of printing envelopes through the back of the machine is impractical and very cumbersome. In my situation, there is no room to open the back w/o having to turn the machine around causing all kinds of problems with wires and such.
My old Brother MFC8840D was much better and easier to use.

Meets all my requirements. Small business and private use. Very dependable and I like the utility features for fax, copies and scanning. I've had this unit for almost 3 years and it just keeps going great.
